Any daycare or early education teachers can help answer this question for me?

Hi! I’m looking to work at kids r kids in Houston. It says that they are open from 6am -6pm. However, they said each staff works 8 hour shifts. How does that work considering the school is opened for 12 hours? I know every school is different but I wanted to see if anyone has an idea on how they adjust the hours for the teachers. Do you think we will probably just be there from like 8-4 or 9-5 but if that’s the case, who fills in for the extra hours before or after school. Sorry I know I’ll have all this info once I’m hired but I just wanted to see if anyone has any idea what it will be like so I know what I’m looking forward to

Typically every classroom has a main teacher (full time) and an assistant teacher (part time). Main teacher comes in at 6-2 and assistant from 1-630.

It’s staggered shifts based on staffing so someone will open a bunch of people will be mids some one or 2 people will close etc

I've been recently hired for a 9-5:30 shift at a daycare, and they are open from 6-6. I was told that on occasion I'll have to come in earlier or stay later but there are already teachers who cover the other times

When I worked in daycares there were morning people that opened the daycare at 6 am and usually they end their shift around 2 or 3. There are people that do 9 to 6. And there are people that do 7 to 4 and 8 to 5 as well. The part time people would usually do 12 to 6 or 1 to 6. Your shift usually depends on the age group and your roll in the daycare. I was a 9 to 6 person I would take my kids from the opening person into my classroom and they would be in my care until close. I also did the part time 12 to 6 where I did breaks during naptime and helped with closing.

@Rema thanks so much for explaining it to me

Thanks ladies!!!
