First c section coming up and nerves are really kicking in.

Ok, the big day is almost here. Tuesday 12 and I am lying in my bed awake and just getting nervous about the needle going into my spine and how my daughter and I will manage. I know the fear is normal. I have no choice but to keep going. I’m trying to get some rest before it. But I have moments when my brain fixates on it and I am anxious. When I birthed naturally I was focusing on the golden hour. This time I am struggling to get my head in that space. What tactics did you use to help ease your mind?

First off; if you’re anxious going in.. TELL THEM!!! I said “im really scared” and immediately I was offered anti anxiety meds through my cannula, if they don’t offer; ask. Secondly, it’s really really not that bad I promise you. I have an awfully low pain tolerance and although it of course wasn’t nice, it was so so manageable and they put a local anaesthetic in BEFORE for the spinal. Having a c section was genuinely the best decision of my life and my best advice to give, is don’t stop communicating!!!! If something could be better tell them, I hope your experience is as manageable and overall comfortable as mine was. If I wanted more babies I would opt for c section again xx

@Ceecee thank you

Everyone dreads that bit the most (including me) but honestly it was a breeze you just curve over (I had to hug a pillow with my knees up, my sister got to hug her husband) while they put it in and then you’re off. It’s scary but it’s a short time and you’ll be so, so looked after, both of you will, it’s going to be okay! This time next week you’ll be too busy with baby to even remember it 😂

I just had a c-section for the first time 10 days ago and I was terrified! I told the staff how I felt and they were so amazing with me and it really wasn’t bad at all! They totally calmed me down and once the spinal was in I couldn’t feel anything at all. I would do it again if I had to and I wouldn’t be scared at all for it next time, definitely just communicate your feelings and you will be well looked after x

@Lakisha you say you couldn’t feel anything. Did you feel any tugging/pulling? With my son I had an epidural. I didn’t feel pain and I didn’t feel him come out, but I felt them working after. It wasn’t pain but it scared me. Hoping they give me a spinal this time and wondering what to expect.

I had an emergency c section but I went in with an open mind. I’m the worst when it comes to pain but I promise you it’s not that bad you’ll be ok 🥺 for me it was the pain after. It took me weeks to recover! But honestly once baby is born you’ll forget all about the pain ❤️ Good luck ! You got this xx

Thank you all. It’s so nice to hear your experiences and reassurance!

I’m having mine the 13th! You’ve got this tho

Also have my section on the 12th, lots of positive vibes for us mumma♥️🫶🏼🫶🏼

@Usinger I honestly never felt any tugging or pulling. I was talking to my partner the whole time and he could see I was being moved about from them tugging but I never felt anything as between my partner and anaesthetists talking to me they took my mind off it all x

@Lakisha thanks! Hoping for a similar experience 😊

@Hannah @Charlotte Southgate how exciting! Good luck to you both and I’m sending positive vibes your way also! ❤️

Thank you for the reassurance ladies. I had my c section this morning I felt well looked after. I did shake with nerves in the beginning. But the team looking after me were amazing. I did throw up three times after but they gave me anti nausea medication that I was fine after. The first thing I said to my husband after birthing my first was “never again” the first thing I dead this time was “I could do this again.”
