This happened to me with my first and now with my second, I’m currently waiting in hospital to be induced (I was induced with my first and by the time I gave birth it was 48 hours from waters breaking unfortunately my son caught an infection from me and had a NICU stay). Apparently you can still decline the induction at 24 hours and they may ask you monitor your temperature and take antibiotics to reduce risk of infection.
Depends. My sister in law was over 37 weeks and was advised to induce. My friend was 35 +4 weeks and they wanted to keep him in and went with antibiotics and regular monitoring until 37 weeks. My friend had asked to have her c section moved earlier as she didn't want the risk of him getting poorly from infection but they pushed for waiting until 37 weeks.
I just had it! Waters broke last Friday, kinda start leaking and on Saturday I started painful contractions -but went only up to 2 cm on Sunday. Then- as it’s been 48h they asked if I want to wait or go- opted for going for it as pain was unbearable. Labour suit in hospital was so busy that they managed to get me to a ward just on Monday - on the waiting to go to delivery… Tuesday am- they admitted me to the labour suit as my waters start getting a bit green ish. Opted for epidural ( was in agony) and got oxcitosin drip at 2pm - all good till about 1 am… when I was nicely on 8/9cm but my bubs baseline heart rate start increasing… end up with emergency c-section and Jamie was born at 3.08 on the 6th- 6 days before his due date. We are currently still in hospital, treating his Jaundice and my infection. My recommendation is- if you think something is wrong- don’t want and advocate for yourself. My birth plan was to chill in the water and have it done in few hours 😂
I’m dealing with this right now!! Got a membrane sweep at my 38 week appt last Wednesday. Had some bleeding and cramping but when away the next day. But felt a little off on Friday and I had a gut feeling that my water broke. Called hospital to be safe and they told me to come in to get checked out. My gut was correct!!!! Haven’t been having regular contractions so they let me go back home and wait it out the next 24 hours. Will be heading back to the hospital around noon if nothing progresses. I hope I don’t have to do a sudden induction. My birth plan was to try and go as natural as possible.
I think remembering that you and the baby is more important than how it’s actually going to happen and don’t beat yourself up for what is happening
We might be able to go tomorrow ,a week since things went down hill!
I had this with my first. They induce after 24 hours to reduce the risk of infection. When I went in to be induced they put me on the hormone drip to bring on the labour and contractions started fairly quick
This happened with my sister in law, if your after 34 weeks they like to induce because the risk of infection increases the longer your waters been broken
