Childcare as a shift worker

My LO is 12 weeks old and I've had a call from work today asking me to go in next week for a chat about returning to work and what that will look like. I'm aiming to go back in April when LO is 9 months but I won't qualify for the 15hours until September... im starting my research now... how do people manage childcare as a shift worker? Where you can't always rely on the set days nursery/childcare placements will likely need.

At work in a nursery and i can't vouch for every nursery but some nurseries do allow you to let them know what work schedules you would need for the following week and let them know weekly in terms of if you had set amount of days they were in i.e if you know they're gojng to be in for 3 days aweek but not sure which 3 until your shifts come out as long as you told us the week before what it would be that would be fine x

My partner works shifts, we found a nursery that let's us change days each week, provided we submit them a term in advance. Not all nurseries were able to accommodate this so it's worth asking around.

With our nursery we tell them the week before what we need for the following week. Not many do that though, you would have to ask around.

Thank you, it is good this is a possibility at some nurseries so I'll add it in to my questions to ask then when i do visits. I'm lucky that I get my shifts 4 weeks in advance so I'm hoping that might help gain a slight bit of favour. I'm a lone parent so I don't have baby's dad to rely on for childcare practicalities or finances. I'm also thinking about asking work if I could have 1 or 2 set days in a week though just incase i can't find a nursery with the flexibility. I could potentially rely on limited family members for the other days to hopefully cut costs. X
