My daughter goes 3 days a week and with the 15 hours free it’s still costing us £500/600 a month , it’s financially ruining us but we have no other childcare 😖
@Rania it’s because mostly a day is like 10 hours if they open at 7:30-5:30 as an example then it’s only term time so if you want to use it all year round it’s actually less hours per week then they can charge extras to make up their money such as food because the government doesn’t give them enough to cover costs
I’ve found that doing my shopping online has helped as I buy less unnecessary things. I bulk buy laundry stuff toilet roll etc from Costco saves me quite a lot over the year.
@Louise I get that.. I understand the term times etc it’s just the government’s wording what’s misleading on this I guess.. They really should support more both child care providers and us
It’s disgusting. I was going to go back to work and use the 15hrs for the triplets but it’s too expensive. If I go back two days a week and use the 15hrs then I only get 2/5 of the pay I did (obviously) so make £550 a month. However to use the 15hrs it’ll cost me £15 per child to use the hours. It only covers a day and a half so I pay £63 per child for the half day I have to cover too. So that’s £234 a week (I have triplets) and about £1000 a month. So it’s more expensive to work than it is to stay home!
It’s honestly crazy right now. Then with rising food and mortgages etc… it just feels like it’s getting too expensive to live 😂
No help here but I must say it’s so misleading when they say free 15 hours when it’s not free at all. It’s all very confusing! I was planning to put my daughter for 2 days per week which would cover the 15 hours but I’d still end up paying roughly £400 per month after the 15h - how’s that possible? There’s nothing free about that 🙄
