How prepped are you? Hosp bag etc.

Without going into the full story, i thought i was going into labour last night and had an absolute panic that we don’t have any hospital bag bits bought, yet alone packed! Equally we don’t have anything for baby as we have been waiting for Black Friday! 😱 Obviously it wasn’t labour (thank god) but now i am super aware of how little we have ready. Has anyone else got nothing much ready yet? Any tips on absolute essentials if the worst happened (for me & baby). I’m going to start a mass order on amazon and want to start with absolute necessities!

Not prepped at all either! I went into panic mode last week and ordered some bits. I also went through his clothes and washed the bits I’d need for the hospital. I have bought some nappies from Aldi and also have wipes and stuff from my daughter anyways. I can send you my list if that would help but it may seem quite overwhelming! X my friend has everything sorted and it’s stressing me out as I usually am so organised

Prepped but not prepped at the same time currently haha, travel system and nursery furniture coming this week, got 0-1 clothes and a few bits for the hospital bag, going to prioritise things for the first few weeks after birth at the least then after that any other time/money left will just keep buying for the future, also picking wipes and nappies up in loads of sizes every time we go shopping

A lot of places already have black friday offers out, especially for the big things like pram, car seat, cot etc. I've got a week off end of Nov so will make a list for hospital bags n start packing then I think

We’ve got clothes sorted because I just wanted them here, haven’t washed them yet. Not got any nappies for baby but have the other bits as we’ve got an almost 2 year old. Got a pram but don’t have the carry cot part or the car seat yet. Have a next to me but need a new mattress as it was our firsts 😂 haven’t packed hospital bags yet, have thought about it but honestly the thought of it 😂 i wouldn’t be too concerned tbh, if you get a pack of nappies, wipes and some clothes you’ll be fine! If babies are born at this stage they would need to spend some time in NICU with being so premature so you would have time to get stuff if it came to that x

Me neither. I’m so unprepared. I havnt got the slightest clue. All I got is some clothes 6 packs of nappies brought 5 mam bottles. Have a next to me crib given by my sister. I feel ya ! I have major panic as I’m in temporary accommodation too and it’s so small 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’ve got a hospital bag but I’ve only got one night dress, muslins & an announcement plaque I bought 😂 I’m planning to start putting more in week by week. It’s going by so quickly!

I’m commenting because I need help with this too lol, I don’t even know where to start. 🥲

I’ll plan and buy all of this during mat leave as I’ve got four weeks before Dd . Did so much in my first pregnancy but now I’m just super chilled

I'm usually so organised but for some reason I can't bring myself to do the hospital bag until after Christmas.. I did the same with my first who was born Feb 2023

Glad to are ok! Though if you did go into labour especially this early almost all of this would not matter (not really). The absolute focus is going to be on you and baby and having or not having a bag or things prepared is not going to make a difference. It’s totally outside of your control if this happened and baby is likely to need quite a bit of time in hospital. In this time your family & friends and partner would be able to get things sorted & online orders etc. There is only a small amount of essentials really needed - clothes, nappies and car seat/safe sleep space for baby once home. The hospital are going to have things to support you and usually are located with a Boots across the road to grab nappies/wipes. Basically trying to reassure you that you’d be ok and manage without being organised as nice as that would be. I packed my hospital bag last time at 40 weeks but had things washed and ready from 35 weeks. I barely used things in it.

The essentials for baby are clothes, hats, layers, blanket, nappies, wipes. And for home a car seat to get home and a safe sleep space for baby with sheet & sleeping bag or blanket. That’s really it… of course things like a changing mat and nappy caddy setup would be nice and having things like a thermometer and nail clippers etc. but you’ve got loads of time to build a more comprehensive list. Maybe some premade formula bottles but again could grab those from Boots if needed and hospitals have formula. Again if baby has come super early you aren’t going to be using a pram yet. So there is time to wait for Black Friday and build up these purchases as it’s likely you will have the time before baby is here. I moved house at 35 weeks last time and only got things setup after then and washed and hospital bag was only properly packed around 40 weeks. I’m actually really organised but this caused me so much anxiety. This baby I’ve done nothing but it’s different as we do have things now.

I didn’t pack my bag till I was 39 weeks with my first 🫣 and it only got done because my friend did me a hamper. My friend had her LO at 30 weeks and she had nothing the hospital actually provided majority of things as she obviously was in nicu for a few weeks and weighing only 1lb15 she had special made clothes. Luckily I have majority of things but I do need to look into double pram but realistically that can even wait till after baby arrives

@Kylie awh thank you, its ok though my friend sent me hers as i told her i was panicking! You are much more prepped than me, we dont have any clothes yet really to wash! Maybe 5 outfits if that 🤣🙈 did a quick emergency asda order this evening for some basics to help calm me!

@Samantha half and half then for you! Still, much more than me 🤣 baby best stay put for a while but if not i guess we would have time, but i’m usually such an organiser/planner than my stress levels would be through the roof if i was in nicu with them and the whole lot wasn’t bought, ready and nursery finished🙈 why did i wait so long!

@Paige oh gosh i can imagine thats a bit uncertain, hopefully you don’t have to move around due date x

@Lucy wow two feb babies!

@Lauren thank you, very true and my partner says the same, if it happened then it would be what it is, but i’m a control freak and think i’d struggle getting others to get stuff for me/baby 🙈 (then again in that situation i suppose you don’t care at that point and just anything will do!) Also didn’t think that hospitals would have things so that’s reassuring too, i knew they had some formula (do they have syringes/bottles too?) but didn’t think they had anything else. Wow that terrifies me, i’m not sure how you did it! I would be anxious too. We moved a year ago and i still think oh god we’re having a baby so soon after moving 🤣 (we don’t even have curtains/blinds in some rooms still). Lets hope i do still have 2.5 months left so i can order those as well..

My waters went 36 weeks with first and I didnt have everything sorted 😂🫠 so was abit of a panic stations get ready whilst we waited 4 days to see if labour would begin to then have a section in the end. This time I’m more organised for sure but it did all come together in the end first time round was just abit stressful x

Haven’t prepared one bit!! Only got a few clothes. We’re also waiting for Black Friday!!

Haven’t bought a single thread this pregnancy not one thing 😂 my daughter is 10 months old so I’m just using everything from her thankfully I’m a horder and never got rid of anything! We also didn’t find out her her gender till birth so most things are gender neutral and fine to use again 😂 I’ll pack my hospital bag closer to the end of pregnancy I packed at 39 weeks last time and thought if I had it packed I’d end up in within the next few days and I still went over due and ended packing and repacking the bag multiple times over that 2 weeks 😂
