Hey - I was in for 30 hrs after baby was born. My hospital also provided formula as my milk didn't come in.
I could have gone home the next day however opted to stay a second night just for ease which was fine we took our own formula as wasn’t planning to breast feed
Hiya! I was in hospital for 1.5 days and I bought my own starter pack of formula in the pre made bottles (they come with sterilised teets too) I have heard that some hospitals have formula and breast pumps at hand if the baby struggles latching. I would bring a little starter pack of your preferred formula just in case they don’t have it xx
I stayed 2 nights after an emergency one, the fact that it was late in the evening influenced it as well. They do provide formula if you have issues breastfeeding.
I had an elective c section too, I was in for 2 nights and 3 days, I would definitely recommend staying 2 nights is your wanting to bf as I found they were really good at supporting with getting baby to latch well and making sure I was ready and able to feed before being discharged, if you have a specific brand of formula you would like to use then I would recommend you take your own as you may not know what brand they use. We bought the kendamil ones but many other brands do the same, with the teats that you can use in the hospital without having to bring any bottles ect with you just incase we needed them
I had emergency c section. So, I was there for 2 nights and they gave me formula.
I was in for two nights. My hospital didn't provide formula or teats, but they did have bottles
I was induced at 38 weeks had her very late via c-section on the 19th and got to come home the 22nd so all in all I was there 5 days but only 4 in recovery but most times it’s only about 2 days
I had an emergency C-section last week and stayed for 3 nights post section. I think it truly depends on how your surgery goes...I ended up needing a blood transfusion so I stayed an extra night for monitoring. My hospital provided formula.
I had an emergency c section and stayed for one night and got discharged the next day very late, around 10pm! My midwife recommended to bring own formula just in case as hospital doesn’t provide it. However hospital provided syringes for me to collect my colostrum! I also had PPH, I was encouraged the next morning of my section to start walking around and pass wind and a lot of urine so be prepared to drink so much water which hospital will provide. Best of luck xx
I had an emergency c-section on a Sunday and was discharged on the following Wednesday, so roughly 3 days and 3 nights
I would recommend asking your midwife about formula, as that’s who advised me that I didn’t need to take any 😊 how long you stay will depend on how your surgery goes. All being well, my hospital trust sends elective parents home after a minimum of 24 hours. I had an emergency section and stayed much longer for treatment, but saw new mamas going home after a full day who were healthy and well 😊
I had an emergency section and stayed in for 3 nights, my hospital had formula incase I needed it but I took in syringes I had some colostrum in and they kept them in the fridge for me until I needed them x
my personal experience with an elective, baby would latch but i was so tired (i had a general) that they had formula on hand and he was bottle fed. I went home after one night as i walked 2 hours after the surgery, could wee so the catheter was taken out and my son was doing well! it’s got everything to do with how you recover and if you’re comfortable enough to go home. Any questions about an elective, please feel free to ask xxxxx

@PJ you walked after 2 hours! That’s incredible!
@Caledonia thank you so much!!! :D x
I stayed for one night and I had an emergency c section I had to supply the formula also but if I wanted to breastfeed they would help support me. This time round I’m having an elective and I suppose all hospitals are different and I’m hoping I’ll be staying in the same amount of time as I did with my first but will have to see x
I’m in the US. My first I stayed 2 extra days, my second 1 extra day, and my third was stillborn so I had 24 hours with him and they immediately let me go after
Hey UK here, I was in for just under 24 hours with my elective C-section and for my emergency I was in for 2 days due to birth complications and to make sure my daughter was okay :) I brought formula with me just in case but they did offer it to me too, they also had sterilising bags too which were helpful for cleaning bottles xx
Yes It depends on how you and your baby is doing I was Able to leave on day 2 if I would like but u r able to stay for 5 days
Hey I was in for just less than 24 hours because they were ‘busy’ and I didn’t have anything they needed to monitor because I opted out of injections after 🤦🏽♀️ because I’m terrified of needles lol but wished I could have stayed a little longer. However by day three I felt okay to get up and do things as normal ie shower and get dressed !! I took my own milk too just incase and they did have equipment to sterilise and wash up bottles if needed but I’d defo recommend taking your own formula incase they don’t have it as not all hospitals will do x good luck hope it all goes well x
I had a planned C-section and I went home the next day. They provide you with formula xxx
I had an unplanned section was in for 7 days due to me and baby having an infection. I had everything packed but not for near long enough I needed so would pack some extra bits just encase - not always a bad thing having to stay in as you can access pain meds and ofc as above can help with feeding. I was planning to breastfeed and in antenatal classes they said don’t bring formula as you’re more likely to “give up” quicker and use formula. But I was in for longer so I would say maybe have some in the boot of a car, or just pack some anyway. Could be (and hope not) if baby is poorly you have some ready just to top up etc whilst you pump or something. The hospital I went to didn’t provide formula but others in the area did so think they differ but could be helpful to just have one of your own anyway just for If you ever need. Best of luck mama and access all the help you deserve - can be so hard at first I had issues with latching I had to use nipple shields tonge tie etc but ok in endx
I stayed for 2 nights. My hospital provided formula. Every hospital is different though..
