Overhand still getting infected

I’m 10 months PP and my c-section overhang still gets infected. If I skip a shower, or don’t keep it bone dry, the next day I have an infection. I’m using the cream I got given when I first went to the doctors, but how long will this last?

Definitely talk to your doctor! I don’t think I’ve heard of this before

Agree with @tyra, I haven’t heard of this before… sounds like something else might be going on, best to get it checked out. Could be something like yeast infection.. 🤔 best of luck mumma

Is it still open what do you mean infected? Like does it smell or what

@Gabrielle smells, has a red like rash thing and is itchy. It goes away when I use the cream but comes back if I do any of the above.

Maybe it’s just more irritated than infected ? If it was truly infected it probably wouldn’t come and go that quickly ? It could be getting irritated / a rash from moisture ? Idk what cream they gave you but you could continue using some kind of barrier cream to protect the skin

@Aspen they gave me canesten. it’s so weird. It’s the same thing every time. It’s what I went to the doctors with in the first place and they gave me this cream but it’s months later and it keeps coming back

Interesting. Yeah maybe it’s just sensitive with heat and sweat and all that. I’d still go to the doctor when it’s flared up and see what they say. I doubt it’s an actual infection from it just because I think it needs to be open for that to happen

I have this same issue it’s because it’s a sweaty dark place prone to irritation - wash daily and I apply some talc powder to keep the moisture at bay and haven’t had an issue since I started doing this

sounds like a yeast rash! try using clomitrazole and washing the area once a day and making sure to dry it really well after. I used the store brand (:

Mine doesn’t get infected it just gets irritated/red if my underwear rubs on it or particularly in summer if I’m sweaty. Is it definitely an infection or is it just irritation? My mother in law still gets this and requires cream for it and her c sections were 23 and 20 years ago

This sounds like mine it's sweat rash I even get it just randomly and I've been washing it with a cloth in the morning and using aqueous cream and then bath in the evening and reapplying the cream Seems to be helping and I'm nearly 1 year pp

It sounds like a fungal skin infection not an actual issue with the scar. Sweat is the usual culprit, basically yeasts need a warm and wet environment to grow. I would use canestan for a while to clear the current infection then get in to the habit of using a deodorant or talc there plus cotton underwear.
