i’m 7 weeks pp and had an emergency c section. in the hospital they’ll ask you at what pain level 1-10 will you ask for stronger medicine. IMO next time i would put a lower number. i said 8 and each time the nurses were surprised. the hardest part for me was walking for the first time after surgery. it’s about 8 hours after surgery and the nurses will go slow. after the initial walk the nurses would wake me up throughout the night to walk every couple hours. each walk got a little easier. the first walk was the worst and i should have asked for stronger medicine after. they prescribed me oxy when i was discharged and that helped a lot when i was home but i believe you can get it while at the hospital too. if your bed at home is high i suggest using a step stool to get in and out. get a belly band (i got the grey frida mom) and put it low, your incision should be in the middle of the band. if you’re breastfeeding the football hold helps since the baby can’t lay on your stomach
@Natalie thank you, I’m nervous about recovery. It sounds like you are doing much better than before.
@Patricia perfect, practical advice! Ty!
I’m 12 weeks pp. Things that helped me were a bassinet that went over the bed but the first couple nights I slept on the couch just because it was easier for me to get up and down. Also a cart with all my essentials. High waisted underwear to make sure nothing is rubbing against your scar. Starting a stool softener ASAP. I personally only took Motrin/tylenol after mine but I had my husband helping me 24/7 so I never overdid anything. Make sure to hug a pillow when coughing, sneezing, laughing.
