It does mama! I used to stress so much, stop watching each boob 🤭 poor latch, tongue tie. Baby got more skill at breastfeeding as time went on. As long as you get plenty wet nappies, trust your instinct.

Until the teeth come, then it's another bump in the road. 🫠😂

@Gemma it’s the latch… he gulps air with every suck and then screams in pain and won’t burp it’s so exhausting 😭

8 months string itc definitely gets better

Do you have any breastfeeding support available? Maybe the latch isn't deep enough. 🤔 At the beginning we used to use infacol to help with burping and then she got better at it xx

@Gemma I have a lactation consultant coming Friday. I’ve had the latch checked but it’s so difficult to keep a deep latch he just pulls back

I’m 6 weeks postpartum too and until literally yesterday I was struggling so badly! I was crying in pain every time my boy was feeding. So yesterday I sat down and was determined to fix his latch, after multiple attempts at latching we cracked it. Keep going, it does get easier!! x

I feel like 3+ months is easier My baby is 10 months now and it is definitely easier than the newborn stage. I had trouble with latching on the first month. I was DETERMINED to fix the latching issue, though, so I went to a breastfeeding support group, called the breastfeeding hotline, watched and read tons of advice and tried different positions until I was able to get a handle on it! The My Brest Friend nursing pillow was a game changer! For me, positioning was the thing that helped the most. When she was in a proper football hold (using the nursing pillow), then she would latch much better! I have very large boobs, though, so that’s probably why this position helped me the most.

Breastfeeding specialist here, are you using any bottles or pacifiers at all? here’s a few things you can try: - Start feeding baby before they cry of hunger. By the time they’re crying they get frustrated much faster - Watch what you’re eating. Dairy products even in very small amounts can give them gas - When did his latch get like this? Have you tried nursing him in different positions? - Have you looked into nipple shields?

Yes!! I cried and was frustrated for about 2 months in the beginning trying to get it right. Man was it tough We’re now at 18 months! 🎉 I got told that it’s not all ‘my fault’ when it was going wrong. That the baby should be doing most of the work to find the nipple, all you can do is put them at the correct angle and that they’re learning too. That really helped shift my mind set.

My LO kept making the latch shallower and it turned out it was a tongue tie. Definitely get that checked with your lactation consultant

It got easier for me around 8-10 weeks, Hang in there!! I remember googling the exact same question at the start and couldn’t imagine it ever being easy but it is! X
