Postpartum Hair Loss

Hi all, I was just wondering if this much hair loss is normal for 4 months pp??? This is what I've lost just from brushing my hair. It's NOT normal for me too loose this much. But I don't know if the amount I'm loosing is excessive. It's really getting me down 🥺

Are you breast milk or formula feeding?

At 4 months pp I lost a lot of hair. It was at its worst when I was in the bath. I’m super lucky to have thick hair usually, but I am now starting to grow it back. My son is 6 months old on the weekend and I am still losing hair but no where near as much. Completely normal, look forward to the front baby hairs growing back!

It looks like a lot but in terms of postpartum hair loss it’s really not that bad. Not invalidating how you feel in any way shape or form btw, I’ve got a full head of extensions in because mine was upsetting me so much. Then when I have to remove the extensions to put the new ones in I’m horrified with how thin my hair looks. I’ve started taking biotin and I can definitely see some regrowth x

@Amy formula x

@Chloe I normally wear extensions because my hair is so thin anyway. I had them took out for a break after having my son. It feels like a lot to me so I can't imagine how others feel 🥺 I've just booked to have them put back in and thinking of trying a tiny weft. Hopefully that might help x

Yeah this is pretty good! I would have huge chunks come out when brushing. It gets better mama!

This is very normal with hormone change and unfortunately it doesn’t always stop xx

You should try tapes if you’re open to the idea. I have such thin crappy hair and this really boosts my self esteem. I find because they’re not putting direct tension on my scalp in one area they’re a lot easier to handle. X

around 3/4 months pp i lost so much hair it came out in clumps left bald patches and thinned so badly. i normally have really long thick hair so when it started coming out it sent me into a depression, its growing back at the front where the bald patches were but its still thin all over i can still see my scalp x

In my experience this is (frustratingly) normal. However for me the falling out stage doesn't last too long (couple of months). Then you get the tufts where it grows back 😱 xx

It’s normal, I think I read somewhere it’s due to us not shedding during pregnancy (because of hormones) so the cycle comes back all at the same time and it looks like we are going bald but it all grows back

I was really bad. It started going back to normal about 3 months ago

So much hair falls out of my head it’s untrue, I’m going bald! I’m 6 and a half months post partum
