I would not recommend Barnet hospital for c section.. had mine 6months ago and was a traumatic experience and still suffering today
I’ve had a planned c-section with them 1st time 3 weeks ago and overall better experience than my previous 2 c-sections from lister hospital. I can’t remember who’s names was who however better experience for me, knowing how hurt i was about having it. X
I had my c section in January and had a good experience. I can’t remember the doctor - he was Asian, and my c section scar is so neat and every midwife who saw it said the same. The two midwife’s I had during labour were amazing. I had an emergency c. The staff after were lovely too, only thing I would say is keep on top of asking them about breastfeeding and seeing a specialist if you have a problem with that as I did. But overall very good, and others I know who have have also said the same x
I’ve had 4 at Barnet and they have been great!!!! Amazing drs and nurses!! 1st was emergency so I don’t remember the dr but second was one of the best ones, I recovered soo quickly. The dr was great and his name is Dr Sirry (not sure I’m spelling it right). 3rd and 4th were with the best surgeon in the country apparently and I truly believe he is, his name is Dr Roden and he is the best dr I’ve ever met. If you can imagine 4 c sections in 5 years, each one increasingly higher risk but Dr Roden made me feel sooo comfortable and supported throughout. Such a gentle kind man and such a pro! All the best. Feel free to msg if you want any details or advice. 💕🙏🏾
Adding on to the thread as I’m also booked for an elective C at Barnet - how was the recovery experience? Can your partner stay with you? I’m particularly worried of being alone since I know that sitting up and walking is hard. I want to make sure that my partner can be around to tend to the little one if needed
I had a c section back in June. It was unplanned, unfortunately I can’t remember the Drs name as I was under so many different medications at that point but all I know he was Hungarian and as soon as I sad I’m ready to do it he was available and got it done right away. It was a really good experience, I was very informed and well looked after. My scar looks good too, only a thin pink line. Breast feeding specialists came every day without me asking.
@Taanya recovery was really good. The midwives were so helpful and don’t worry, your partner can stay there with you all day and night ☺️
@Taanya your partner or someone else can stay. I had to go back in a few days after and my mum and my partner took it in turns to stay. Midwives were super helpful as well.
Oh that’s excellent news and gives me a lot of ease in this other wise very anxious time.
I've had two c sections at Barnet. First was an emergency and second planned. Both went very well and the whole team in theatre were incredible. The first doctor was turkish I think but can't remember his name- he was amazing. Second doctor was a black man who was incredible- he made me feel so comfortable. I was even laughing and joking! You will be in good hands with the team there. I had a few issues but that was with after care and midwives rather than surgeons etc xx
@Aarti oh Aarti, so sorry to hear u had bad experience. Was it the operation itself or the aftercare that made u suffer?
More the operation but postnatal as well
@Zaza thanks Zaza, I heard about both Dr. Siri and Dr Rodin. Glad to know u had good experience. How was the postnatal ward?
@Leila I was on the Victoria ward and they were great there. All the nurses and widwivee were so lovely and attentive. The cubicles are close to each other so you will hear other women and their babies and families but I didn’t mind it was nice to know I had other women going through the same as me. Just get some noise blocking earphones if you can so you can get some rest while your partner is with you and can help with baby. The widwives are always there to help as well. I honestly have no complaints at all! Even the food was decent! I’ve had all 5 of my kids at Barnet and not 1 bad experience. 💕🙏🏾

I had my elective C-Section at Barnet Hospital on the 2nd of April 2024! My midwife managed to arrange for me and my husband to stay in a room on the Labour ward for 2 days until discharge (as we are both autistic and I needed my hubby to stay with me) so I stayed on the Labour ward between the 2nd-4th of April! I found it brilliant. The team were brilliant. I don’t remember the dr, but i remember the anaesthetist. His name was Fred (which was my grandads name who passed in February 2021, his birthday was in April too) and Fred was brilliant. I was terrified and in tears before hand because I was panicking but he was so good at distracting me, talking me through each step, and was brilliant through the process! My husband got to hold our baby girl while I was being stitched up! It was the best experience and I would 1000% do it again. It was relaxing in the end, magical, and beautiful!
@Laura oh thank you Laura for sharing your beautiful experience. I’m so glad you had wonderful care.
@Zaza thanks Zara for sharing the ward experience, it’s so reassuring.
