Anaemia and low folic acid

Just had my first iron infusion due to low levels 😭

@Katie what level did your results come back as?

@Charlotte my ferritin was 9 and then I had lots of symptoms a couple of weeks after and then I had the infusion but they didn’t recheck as they already knew they were low as had been going down for weeks. So last test was 9 but not sure the drop in the 2 weeks after.

@Katie oh really! Mine came back at 16 looking back the only symptom I had was pins and needles and headaches . However I have to got for heart scan because im getting loads of weird palpitations

My levels are both low just been upped to 2 iron tablets a day and another blood test in 6 weeks to make sure they are going up x

I got my results back a few weeks ago and my ferritin levels were a 7. They put me on iron tablets but they made me vomit so I can't take them but have said that my levels are not low enough to warrant a transfusion as I asked ...its so difficult seeing that different trusts seem to treat things so differently. I thought the NHS were supposed to be consistent 🤦‍♀️ got another blood test in 3 weeks when I will be 34 weeks to check levels again. It's exhausting!

I went to the GP last week because I kept going faint and they did a blood test, they told me that my iron levels had dropped from 150 to 101 (not clue what that means) but I know it’s drop quickly in 2 weeks, so been put on iron tablets, and they’ve said if it’s not up after 2 weeks I’ll need a blood transfusion🤦🏻‍♀️

My iron levels were low too 97 but they just told me to take iron tablets daily. I was feeling faint and getting palpitations they did an echogram and ECG was all ok also booked to have a 24hr heart monitor. I'm also taking folic acid

@Natalie I’ve just had the 24 hour ECG and I have an eco on Sunday. I’ve started taking the iron tablets, I only had pins and needles which is a symptom but I put it down to her sitting in a nerve haha!

@Charlotte where was you getting pins and needles I haven't noticed me getting any just the usual in my hand if I'm lying in a funny position.
