Pelvic girdle pain

I’m 26 weeks and started with pgp last week and it’s progressively getting worse. Do I need to call antenatal & is there anything that can even be done? Thinking of taking the hit and going private osteopath but wondered if anyone had had anything helpful from nhs first?

They will refer you for physio but depending on your trust, it could be weeks- my midwife told me waiting times in my trust meant my baby would be born by the time they saw me 🙃 Have heard all they do is give you a support belt and a couple of exercises. I went private to a womens health physio and she was amazing. Check if your employer has an employee assistance programme as this sometimes covers physio and medical treatment.

I had this really bad in my last pregnancy and I was referred but all they did was give me exercises to help, nothing really helped me though in the end I had to finish work early as the pain was so bad

I am suffering too. I was referred to group physio which was quite quick. I then asked for a belt and got a 1:1 the following week. The referral lasts 6 weeks after expected due date so worth doing. Ask your midwife team to refer you. “It’s common but not normal” apparently. 1 in 5 suffer. Exercises and birthing/exercise ball should help improve symptoms, and small movements. I’m thoroughly fed up of it.

I just done a lot of YouTube pelvic girdle pain workouts which really helped. The pregnant belts help too. Also during the night using a pregnancy pillow was good. It was so painful but I found if I worked out and moved it wasn’t as painful. I had a desk job so it encouraged me to get up which was a silver lining. Good luck and I hope it isn’t too painful!

I got referred to a physio and have all the NHS leaflets if you'd like them DM me. More than happy to share but I would still ask your midwife for a referral to the physio too!! Since starting the exercises I am a million times better! Like I cannot express to you how much of a difference the small changes have made. It's still there don't get my wrong but I'm functional again and I'm hoping it just gets better. The exercises are build on though so you need to dedicate yourself to them or you won't see any results

Sorry to say this but I think it’s just an inevitable thing. When the baby comes out you will probably not feel the pain straight away as the weight has gone and then gradually over the course of months your tendons will go firm again. That’s how it was with my first. Hurts so bad for me again but there’s no magic answer. I don’t think physio would do anything really

3rd pregnancy and suffered with it and spd in all 3... Honestly they will refer you to physio and give you some stretches but the stretches they give you you can find on YouTube videos "stretches for pelvic girdle pain"

I’ve had pelvic griddle pain for weeks now. Some days it’s okay other days when I’ve walked more it’s been horrendous! I find instant relief when I sit on my pregnancy ball and when I tuck up in my pregnancy pillow !! X

Osteo can definitely help, I saw a chiropractor in my first pregnancy and it helped loads!

Get yourself a good pregnancy pillow for night time! My PGP is worse first thing in the morning when I’m all stiff, but the pillow has helped massively. I was away from home for a few days last week and slept with a normal pillow between my legs and really felt the difference. I’m in physio and they just tell me to do exercises and check my alignment every 6 weeks when I go. They also explained every day things that can exacerbate it (sitting cross-legged, for example) and told me to take shorter strides when I walk
