Mat leave timing

Hi everyone, I’ve been told it’ll be safest for me and baby if I have an elective C section. I’m due mid April. Just wondering generally what kind of date they give for elective c sections? I’ve been told it’ll be before due date but no timeframe. Any advice on how much sooner then due date people had c section/recommendations around mat leave start would be so kind and helpful! Thank you!

I had mine at 38 weeks 🫶🏼 Being plenty of peppermint tea with you - it’ll help relieve trapped wind (and help you poop the next day 😅) Good luck 💗

I’m having an elective in a couple of weeks time, maternal choice due to previous unplanned section with my first, I will be bob on 39 weeks. As I understand, electives are usually done within the 39th week unless there is a medical reason to do it sooner. Although I do think it can vary from trust to trust. (UK based)

I’d work on 39 weeks.. I had mine at 38+3 and was booked in quite far ahead… a consultant can book it if you have an app. So I just finished the week before at just over 37 weeks, took a weeks leave and started maternity as she was born

Mine was scheduled for 4 days before my due date. I started my mat leave 2 weeks before my due date and then spontaneously went into early labour one week before due date, so ended up having to section one week before due date! Very glad I took that extra week as otherwise I would have gone straight from work on a Friday to the hospital at 6am the following morning.

First one was 6 days before due date, second one was 1 day bedore

Mine is booked for bang on 39 weeks 🥰

Between 37 and 39 weeks, depending on urgency of the health concern.
