Just curious- but why is everyone getting inductions before 40 weeks? Like what is the reasoning for it? I see it a lot on here but don’t understand why

@Lauren I’m getting induced bc I’m considered a high risk pregnancy bc I am anti-cardiolipin antibody positive. Also every pregnancy is different. sometime for certain people it’s not healthy or safe to go to there actual due date!

Got it.. I’m just confused as to why.. I see it a lot here - lol I need mine to stay in a little longer haha- I have work to finish 😝

My doctor informed me that induction is an option because if you wait past 40 weeks your baby might be to big to push out naturally and it’s also to avoid a c section.

I’ve heard that being induced hurts way more because of the medication they give you to force your body to go into labor. Not sure if that’s true for everyone but just what the nurses told me(I did not get induced)

@Marla I’ve heard this a lot too! that’s the main reason why I asked!

@Hokulani I’m sure you can get the epidural at some point but they try to wait until you are 6-7cm dilated. At least that’s how they do it at my hospital. So it’s still painful up until then. But once you get the baby, it’s all worth it. I wouldn’t stress or anything

@Marla yes well..: inducing doesn’t allow your body to naturally use those natural hormones to go into labor… your essentially forcing it… so unless there is some medical reason why… just doing it because “your Dr is in town” or you “want it to be over” isn’t always the best idea

@Lauren yeah I agree 100%. If it’s not medically necessary, then let that baby bake some more weeks! My doctors talked about inducing me just because I was over 40 weeks with my first but I declined it. Then a few days later I went into labor naturally.
