Ward kitchen?!

Hi all, Iv seen some hospitals have a ‘ward kitchen’ that you can access and use yourself. Is this true about Chesterfield Royal maternity ward? Or are you confined to your bed/cubicle and not really meant to go anywhere? Any recent experiences about what it’s like in the ward? I’m just absolutely dreading it 😭 I wish you could pay for a separate room which I know some hospitals also do!!

There’s a small kitchen which has a fridge, microwave, kettle and plenty of Milton steriliser tubs which you can access as and when you like when on the ward. They also have key lock boxes if you need to store breastmilk or colostrum :) x

@Jenny thanks! Do they provide anything like teabags etc or should I pack a mini box of bits that will help make it feel a bit more homely?

The kitchenette is more for bottle prep area for babies more than for us - they have the onsite cafe and then if you’re admitted to the ward, the tea trolley comes round three times a day as well as food x
