C section smell

In 2 weeks post partum and my c section smells so weird like in the morning I can smell it when I get up I wash it 2 times twice a day with dial soap & nothing helps. This is my second section my first wasn’t like this. It’s not itchy red or swollen so I don’t think it’s infected idk what’s going on I’m also plus sized & have an overhang so i always keep it clean and dry

I’d get it checked out anyway just to be on the safe side x

@Meg I had a nurse come over the weekend and take a look she said everything looked fine 😢

That's how mine was as well it wasn't infected or anything just make sure it's dry

That smell is a bacteria that forms with moisture. If you have an overhang, there is only so dry that you can keep it. You can try using a handheld fan or lay down and air it a few times a day. It will go away eventually when totally healed up. Just keep an eye for itching or redness. Otherwise do what you can to keep it clean and dry. The smell will fade over the month.

@Kaitlyn how long did it last for you?

I've had my dressing removed today, and I'm 3 weeks postpartum. My dressing was yellow and smelt, but the nurse said it was normal serous discharge, and the smell was the dressing not being able to absorb anymore. I thought it was an infection, but she said she would be worried if the discharge was green or brown. My dressing was removed, and I was given a barrier cream and spare dressings just in case. I was told not to wash the area with soap, but it's okay for soap and water to get on it, as long as I air dry the wound after x

It probably last about 2 months to 3 months

Easy way to keep it dry is to put a panty liner along the top of your knickers. Soaks up excess moisture along the wound.

@Sarah I got told this too off the nurses today xx

You might have a yeast infection. It happens.

I had an infection and it smelt like this x

I had same symptoms - I was given antibiotics but also told to pull tummy up as far as possible and wash my wound using soap. I was doing this anyway but just not pulling my tummy up as far as I was scared about possibly reopening my wound 🤦🏽‍♀️. I also used to use the hairdryer after on the cool setting just to dry the area well

mine smelled like earring back around that time too it goes away once everything closes completely up

put a pad or tissue right there too to absorb extra moisture

I think I know what weird smell you’re talking about. When I got checked mine was also fine thank GOD. I think it’s just part of the process especially if we have a fuppa lol

Mine did too for a while. Never got infected just smelled kinda weird. It went away after it was more healed and haven’t had an issue since. Just keep it clean and dry and it will probably go away with time
