It's just that making the milk with all hot water and then waiting for it to cool down is not really an option. LB goes from 0 to 100 in seconds. He loses his voice from crying...
We use the hot shot method but then cooled down boiled water all at once so it's still fairly warm. So for example 2oz hot shot and then 3oz cooled down boiled water for a 5oz bottle and then put in the anti reflux powder after and stir it with a sterilised spoon with every scoop you put in (this stops it from clumping too much) then we give it a very vigorous shake for 1 minute and then we add a few drops of infacol and swirl it around until all the bubbles disappear (this gets rid of the bubbles and just stops baby getting more gas but obviously that's optional, just a lil tip as you have to shake it a lot to get rid of the clumpiness unfortunately which causes more bubbles)
I’m using aptamil anti reflux and what I found really useful: I bought a kettle with different temperature setting and I heat the water till 70 degrees, add all the milk powder, shake and put into the bowl with cold water. Cooling takes max 5 minutes. I tried rapid cooler but with 210ml it doesn’t work, always lumpy
@Kayleigh can I add infacol into the milk ? I was always struggling to give straight to the mouth
@Paulina we add it in every bottle, not sure it helps them as it's only a few drops but it gets rid of the bubbles so essentially will prevent bad wind so I guess it helps them in a way. Been doing it since my little one was 4 weeks, he's now nearly 12 weeks
Thank you all for the advice! I will probably try the rapid cooler first (he still eats small amounts) and see how it goes. Will also try the infacol!
I would follow instructions on the box with something like this. You don’t want to cause issues by using another method that could affect the whole point (e.g a prep machine is known for causing more bubbles for example)
