Mucus Plug

Grossest name but we all have one 😂 Needing some advice / experiences from mums who already have a little one. Last night I lost part of my plug, I’m 33 weeks pregnant with baby number 2 - I got pregnant just as my first turned one so my body didn’t get change to get ‘back to normal’. With my first I lost my plug and then within hours my waters broke. This time it’s been 16 hours and I’ve had extra bits come out when I go to the toilet but not a thick plug like last time. Is there chance she could be coming soon or am I still so early the plug might regenerate a bit? I know - speak to my midwife and I will do later today but at the same time my anxious brain needs first hand experiences. TIA xx

You can actually lose your mucus plus multiple times throughout and it can regenerate. Losing your mucus plug doesn’t always mean labor is really close. With my daughter I lost my mucus plug at around 34 weeks and she still stayed cozy in there till her induction date 3 weeks later.

I've lost mine 3 times now, keep alerting my midwives they keep asking the usual "anything else coming out?" Do you feel funny questions which are all no I'm fine and they keep saying then all is well. It happens 🤷 it'll regrow 🤷 call us or come in if you feel funny **Disclaimer - This is my first baby though and I've had a textbook pregnancy**

I’ve lost parts of my mucus plug from like 20wks, and this is gonna be gross but I lost like a thick disc of mucus plug, I’ve had long bits that have literally come down to my knees, it will likely regenerate. this is my third baby. She’s still content inside. As you probably already know as long as it’s not bloody, you’re not in pain or cramping then all should be good. Your bloody show is one that signals labour is close.

With my first I lost my mucus plug and then went into labour the next morning (my mum and sister the same). With this pregnancy I have lost bits several times at 20-28 weeks. Now 32 weeks and nothing 🤷‍♀️ I called triage and they weren’t worried and said to call back if any signs of labour

My midwife said you can lose your plug weeks before labour and it’s not really a sign of imminent labour at all

Thanks everyone. Spoke with my midwife and she’s not concerned. Lost a little bit more so I’ll just keep an eye on it but no blood and no waters so we’re good for now xx
