Hospital Bag for Mom and Dad

Alright, this has probably been asked before but I do need some help. I have NO IDEA what to pack for my hospital bag. Baby Girl has her bag ready and it’s been ready for months. But for Dad and Mom, no clue. Any and all suggestions and recommendations are welcomed. Expected due date is January 4th but I have a sneaky suspicion she will come a week early. I was born a week early and Dad was born 3 weeks due to his mom moving heavy stuff.

Ive seen: slippers, dressibg gown, comfy coming home stuff, pads/nappies, speaker, chargers, ipad/ games, spare underwear/ clothing

Pumping bra , My milk came in while at the hospital and I had to pump so not engorged. It’s annoying to hold pump -shower stuff -nipple balm -toothbrush and paste - going home outfit -outfit if your having fresh 48 pics -robe -portal sound machine -phone chargers -pillow for dad Honestly I ended up just wearing my hospital gown and the disposal underwear and socks they provided so didn’t need much for myself. Some people bring their own hospital gown and put makeup and normal clothes, but not me lol

Cooling pads but I think the hospital has those if you are delivering vaginally

What I packed in mine: • hair ties • mini hair brush • charger box/16ft charger • snacks ( chips, candy, beef jerky etc ) • fridamom ice cooling pads • aloe vera, witch hazel, dermoplast (all 3 to go on top of the pads for padsicles) • fridamom disposable boyshorts • fridamom 3in1 humidifier,nightlight & essential oil diffuser • lavender essential oil (will be using during labor/delivery *its supposed to be calming and distracting even tho ur pushing out a baby it might give a comfort smell *) • 2 pjs (1 will be for after delivery and the 2nd will be to go home in) - from shein • Fridamom belly wrap • portable fan that has tripod legs cus I heard ur body temp can get hot during delivery/labor • my makeup bag (I take my bag in and out of my hospital bag but I make sure to put it back after I’m done using just to be safe) • bought in a travel size bag from target: - deodorant - tooth brush - tooth brush holder/cover - razor (it came with it) - shampoo - conditioner

-body wash • 3 copies of birth plan • birth certificate (I prefilled out the sections I could like his name and dads and I information) • nipple pads • slippers • fridamom peri bottle!!! • non slip socks • extra empty sports bag to take things home from the hospital for baby (will be asking for everything again everytime a nurse shift happens)

I’m planning on using my crocs as shower shoes /to be wearing them when I go in so I don’t have them in my bag - also because there’s no more space lol

Honestly I was naked majority of the time cause I was super hot and when I did wear stuff it was their gowns cause my stuff was to heavy, so I’d bring loose clothes and a warm set for you, we got clothes for the baby, I brought my own postpartum stuff, but next time I’m only bringing Frida mom foam, adult diapers, and the Frida mom perineal bottle cause there witch hazel wipes work great, I brought flip flops which was great for the shower floor cause it was freezing and fuzzy slippers and fuzzy soaks. Next baby I’m bring my hakkaas as well cause their hand held pump was not working that well and clothes for dad. I wouldn’t bring games or books next time cause honestly if I wasn’t getting checked by the doctor I was knocked out, me and the baby. Also toiletries, for yourself and dad. Dad in my opinion only needs clothes when in the hospital we was there for 3 days and they gave him a pillow and a blanket for his bed.

Ouuu bring your own Frida mom ice packs cause they didn’t give me one till my second night at 3am and it suckrf cause they was out, but honestly half the stuff people say to bring is unless in the hospital everything you need they have and you can ask for

@Iris they give you witch hazel wipes and dermoplast at the hospital so I would leave those home cause you’ll need more of it eventually, I would get the Frida mom cooking foam to bring instead cause it helps a lot after you pee, I would also bring diapers for the first few nights after you have the baby cause you bleed a lot in the those first few days and get huge blood clots that look alarming but they say unless it’s the size of a tennis ball you’re fine💀, I’m not sure how much the humidifier will distract you cause when you start pushing especially with the epidural in your whole focus needs to be on concentrating on your nurses instructions and trying to focus on your breathing cause how you breathe affects your pushing, I would use the muscles you use to cough when I started using them she was out in a few pushes. It’s a really tiring process

@Iris not cooking, cooling foam

I brought a nursing/robe set for me from old navy which was my fav thing to wear after, toiletries, going home outfit (don’t bother bringing extra shoes just wear what you brought into the hospital, AirPods, phone charger, disposable underwear (if vaginal birth these are a must, they provide ice packs and everything else you’ll need for post-birth recovery), a little egg lamp that dims and brightens to nurse with without all the lights being on, nursing bras, my pillow, cash for vending machines, specific snacks or beverages like coconut water etc. if you have any Starbucks or DoorDash gift cards from ppl bring those too! My husband basically brought change of clothes for a few days, slippers, headphones, blanket and that’s about it!

@Necharia I had a hospital tour and I asked. They do not provide the things I’m bringing. I don’t want the cooling foam, I didn’t ask for advice. I’m just letting her know what I’m bringing in my hospital bag which I said. Not sure why ur criticizing my hospital bag when tbh this isn’t even your post and I wasn’t even fuckin talking to you.

You don’t need much honestly. Long phone charger Pillow and blanket Comfy night gown Slip resistant socks Your own toiletries (soap, tooth brush etc) Pumping bra Comfy clothes to wear home Some people say toilet paper but my hospital had nice tp We live around the corner from our hospital, so my husband ran home often. He had a change of clothes, pajamas, toiletries. Last time he grabbed his switch (induction and took a long time) and a pillow and blanket (this time used the hospitals). Vending machine money (although they might take cards) and snacks.
