C-section bounce back

Anyone not immediately bounce back after a c-section? I see all these posts of people saying they had no issues afterwards and I’m a week post op now and still in so much pain… it’s still hard to walk around, especially initially… getting in and out of bed all night long to care for baby is so hard and painful… I’m still dealing with painful poops and horrible gas that struggles to pass… my incision burns and bothers me… my nipples are killing me from a baby that poorly latches… my back hurts terribly where the spinal was placed… and I’m just so tired of hurting everywhere and to hear a family member tell me I should be bounced back by Friday has me feeling so overwhelmed that I’ve decided to have a pity party tonight…

Took be about 4-6 weeks to really feel better. Was very painful for moving and getting out/ Sitting up of bed the first 3 weeks

I don’t know anyone who ‘bounced back’ after just a week! It took me 2 weeks to not need any paracetamol/ibuprofen every 4 hours. I’d say for me it was about week 4, where I started to feel ‘better’ or things became easier. Getting out of bed became easier, coughing/sneezing/laughing, going up and down the stairs etc! Give yourself a break, and take the pressure off. It’s 6 weeks for a c-section recovery. Ignore the others and any negativity x

For me week 1 was awful. So painful. But by the end of week 2 there was a sudden improvement. Hang in there!! And ignore anyone saying you should have recovered by now. It's 6 weeks recovery and that's only to get back to a point where you can start exercising and putting yourself back together. You're doing fine!

Are you on any pain relief? At 1 week pp I was still on a 3 hourly schedule of paracetamol+ibuprofen. Were you given any laxatives to help with the bathroom?

for 3 weeks i couldn’t walk properly, it took me 2/3 months to get back to “normal” i’m 10 months pp and random day like today, i feel pain in my scar

I am allergic to pain meds and so my pain management after my last c section was awful. I hurt so bad all the time. For the first week I barely could move around except I had to go to the nicu to see my baby. I don’t really remember when the pain went away but even at 6 weeks I could barely function.

@Genevieve I am on Tylenol and ibuprofen and have the option to take Vicodin but my husband is very against narcotics due to his family history so I have to use them only when absolutely needed which is fine but I’m still just sore and uncomfortable. And I was given gas x and stool softeners and I’m glad I can at least pass gas and am pooping but my god does it hurt!

It definitely took me 3 weeks to feel okay again and 6 months to feel like "normal". I'm sorry you're hurting so much. I would crank up a heating pad for the back pain and maybe try nipple shields to help with the painful latch. Stool softeners and Tylenol were my besties while I recovered. You can chew gum to help your gas pass or try gas-x. A good position to be in to pass gas is laying on your left side with your left leg straight and right knee bent.

I'm 5 1/2 months postpartum and still have not bounced back... Shame on whomever made that insensitive comment to you!!

I felt much better 5/6 weeks PP. Weeks before that were pure hell. My legs/feet were so swollen I couldn’t even walk because of the pressure. My back was hurting so bad. I was sleeping on a recliner for 3 weeks. It felt like I was never going to get better. C sections are rough. Hang in there, stay on top of your meds

You need 4-6 weeks to feel remotely better.

That's ridiculous. I'm also 1 week pp and although my pain is reducing, there's no way I'm "bouncing back". I still take paracetamol at least two or three times a day, and I couldn't actually move myself forward to get off the sofa yesterday evening. With my son two years ago, I think it was about two weeks until I could walk to the end of the road, and then I was pretty much okay by my 6 week check. It's not 'normal' for months though, I still felt it aching during exercise or even just randomly - not painful but you know it's there.

I’m coming to two weeks and have been on the same boat - there is no bounce back rule, shame on that family member, everyone heals differently mama! I literally cried the other day saying I’m overrrr it, everything just hurts 😅😅😅 I have a friend we had the baby about the same time and two weeks she was walking with the buggy around the park - I can barely get to the toilet and back 🤣🤣🤣🤣 For the poops I had to use a suppository because nothing was working for me (microlax off Amazon) xx
