Sleep Paralysis Demon

Scary thing happened to me. Woke up around 5 am to fussy baby. She had a wet diaper so I changed her and then put her back. Couple minutes later she was fussy again and I know she wasn’t hungry cause I fed her 15-20 min prior. Anyways, she normally sleeps in her crib Next to our bed. This time I propped up some pillows and sat incline while I cuddled her until she calmed down. Somewhere along the line I guess I fell asleep. I woke up and I put her back in her crib just to look back down with her back in my arms the same way I had her earlier. “I swore I just put you down didn’t I? How did you end up back here?” That happened about 2-3 more times. Getting up to put her to bed only to return and find her in my arms again like a cycle repeating itself. I couldn’t tell what was reality. Except this last cycle I woke up to a the sound of a fussy baby coming from the crib but it didn’t sound like my baby. It sounded… distorted, somewhat demonic. But…I looked down, and there she was again my baby. “But… if you’re here, then who’s in there?” The demonic cries started getting louder but all I could move were my eyes and I looked towards the crib and I see what looked like another version of my baby getting up and slowly crawling its way towards me. (My baby is only 2 weeks old) I’m screaming for my husband to wake up next to me I managed to get my right hand free and start slapping his face but he isn’t waking up. I start scratching it hard and he’s still not waking up. (Or so I thought) Then finally I managed to let out a wailing sound I’ve never made before (cross between a ghost and a goat) and my husband actually wakes up and takes the baby from me while I recover from the panic. I tell him everything that happened and he says I never slapped him or scratched him. He didn’t hear anything aside from that weird yell I made. I’m thinking I had a sleep paralysis nightmare. Anyone else experiencing this?

It sounds like you may be suffering from some major sleep deprivation and your brain was becoming increasingly more desperate for you to wake up because you had your baby in your arms while sitting up

I’ve had some pretty intense dreams since my first pregnancy but this sounds really scary like a horror movie of some sort. Have you talked to anyone I know it may sound crazy but maybe you need to rest let someone else take care of your baby except feeds just maybe for an hour or two.

@Teela that could be it. I am definitely extremely tired.

@Jo'Nique it was 😭 It’s one of my worst nightmares. Demonic babies and animated dolls. I definitely need more sleep

Be gentle with yourself get rest and stay hydrated you got this mamas

This reminds me of postpartum psychosis please talk to your doctor about this asap

I can’t even image how scary and horrifying this was you. way before I had my baby or was even pregnant I had an experience with a sleep paralysis demon and it was traumatic to say the least. I can’t even imagine how scary it when a baby is in the picture!! Like others said it does sound like some sleep deprivation. If you have anyone that could take care of the baby for you or in the same room as you while you get a solid few hours of sleep that might help a bit.

I would also bring it up to your doctor they know how to handle this better probably and they can keep a look out to make sure it doesn’t worsen into psychosis or something even more horrible and if it does they know who to refer you out to <3

@Carly it was so scary but yes I did bring it up to my doctor and she said something along the same lines as everyone here. To ask for help so I can get some extra sleep. Hoping to get some better sleep tonight 😅

Yesss best of luck on that!! I know I had a genuinely hard time sleeping the next few nights to weeks after mine happened bc it was so traumatizing to me so I’m hoping it’s a lot easier for you!!
