Episiotomy Recovery

Just wondering how long everyone’s episiotomy took to stop hurting. I am a week postpartum and am still in agony. Any advice on how to heal quicker is definitely appreciated as it is just unbearable. Thank you x

I had one back in February, the pain definitely got worse before it got better! I think after 2 weeks it started to get loads better and quite quickly as well. Best things that helped for me during the first 2 weeks are the boots ice pack pads, they were a lifesaver. Hope you’re feeling better soon x

My recovery was long. Keep topped up with ibuprofen and paracetamol. For the first few weeks I wore the big disposable pants with a maternity pad in, I would spray the pad in the expert midwife spritz for bits. I also bought the pads that go in the freezer but I found the spritz for bits really helped so didn’t use them. Hope you feel better soon x

Mine got infected and the stitches came open from day 5 post partum. Keep checking it for any signs of infection and if in doubt, get it checked properly x

First week was hellish, second week the pain started slowly improving by the end of the second week it was a dull ache, this lingered for a few months for me unfortunately.

It took mine around 6 weeks to stop hurting/feeling uncomfortable
