Early morning Wakings

HELLPPPP lol My 10 month old has always been a good sleeper. He is an early riser and for about a month or so we got him to sleep until 5:45-6am. He’s on a strict schedule at daycare and takes 2 naps a day and she is strict about not letting him sleep too much. He gets 2-3 hrs of daytime sleep and we have a 6:30-7pm bedtime. For the past month (or maybe longer) he has been up around 4-5am. We’ve tried to rock him, let him cry, etc. but we gave in and started giving him a bottle. He’ll usually drink it and go back to sleep, but lately he’s wide awake. I leave for work around 6:30 so he’s usually up at 6ish. How in the world do I get him to sleep in again?! Could it be teething? Regression? Habitual? I’m at a loss and I’ve tried EVERYTHING 😢

Wow! I could have written this myself. My daughter is the exact same- like literally on the exact same past schedule and is now on the same sporadic wake schedule. I'm not really sure what to do either. We moved her to her own room recently, so I think that's contributing but I'm at a loss for how to get her sleeping in.

My 10 month old did the same thing, sounds like his schedule is exactly like yours. It all seemed related to growth and teething. He was hungrier for a while, eventually we were able to get him down again if he waked for a bottle and some nights we know it was teething before bed and we set him up to sleep better with Motrin or Tylenol. If he woke before 4am we would rock him back to sleep or soothe in the crib if after we knew it was a lost cause and he was hungry. It’s a guessing game and it’s totally normal for babies to have off days, weeks or even months- they are changing so much. I have polled all my friends with kids and they all said I was nuts for thinking my baby would sleep like an angel forever that there are stages and days where they won’t.

@Kayla maybe it’s a combination or everything? At this point I have to give him a bottle when he wakes up for he will cry and cry and cry. maybe it’s a regression?

@Andrea I needed this 😢 I’m so fixated on trying to adjust everything and part of me is just like well, give him what he needs. He NEEDS a bottle when he wakes up early to get him to settle. I change his diaper in the dark and leave him be to drink it and sometimes he’ll go back to sleep but lately not. He goes to bed fine which I’m thankful for and sleeps a solid 10 and a half hours so I can’t be picky.

Yes, it must be. I eventually have to give my daughter a bottle too. Some mornings she'll go back to sleep, others I just have to move her first nap time up slightly. At least we're in it together. 🫠

@Kayla exact same here. Same day time schedule, same bed time... Same 5am wakes 😅 my girl sleeps on her bedroom since day one, so nothing has changed. I'm waiting to see if this goes away as another weird phase

@Laura same!!! Past week it’s been 4am!!!! I leave him in his crib though no matter what until 6am

My daughter is 10 months and a few days and has an identical schedule with the same issue. No solve yet but solidarity that it’s not just your little one! It must be this stage of growth. ❤️

@Cara (Care-uh) thank you for the validation😭😭

This is exactly us. It’s been going on, on and off, since 9 months. If he wakes up before 4 am, he usually will go back to sleep. Although, it’s much harder to get him back to sleep than it used to be. But after 4 am, it’s a gamble if he’ll go back to sleep at all!

We are right there with you! He was sleeping until 6-630 and since day lights savings he now wakes up at 5. No tips yet, we’ve tried not letting him nap too early but it hasn’t helped.

Ugh same 😭 just started for us and definitely related to teething for my baby. We're about to travel for the holidays and we'll be 2 hours earlier which means if she keeps this up she'll be waking up at 2am. Just realizing this now as I type this. Pray for me omg
