Baby Chokes during Bottle-feeding

My 1 week old tends to choke on a bottle if the nipple is filled with too much milk (the nipple is a level 1). My husband is moves super slow to pat her back and it drives me crazy. He just looks at her and slowly puts her on his chest. Sometime I want to yell at him to move faster or just don’t allow him to feed her anymore.

Try the T size nipple , my baby had the same issue

Try leveling down to a preemie nipple, there on Amazon my 3 month solely drinks out his bottles with that nipple as his pediatrician says most nipples are too fast of a flow

What brand bottle and nipple? We had to get special nipples for my son because he would choke also and he'd stop breathing while eating. We use doctor browns bottles with transitional nipples. The nipples are very slow flow and he does great with them. He was in the NICU using these nipples

As for your husband be patient they’re learning too!

Have you tried paced feeding where you lay them on their side and feed and you only fill the nipple half way that way they are in control of how much they get it’s not just pouring into their mouth

Do sidelining feed. Hold your baby like a football with their head tilted to the side it will allow the milk to go to their cheek instead of flowing straight down.

Same experience I was having too I realized the nipple flow was still to much as a 1 size, you need a extra slow flow nipple bottle I use Philips Avent Anti-Colic Baby Bottle with AirFree Vent - Clear - 4oz it should say 0 + Months and he do not choke anymore it allow him to drink at the rate he sucks the bottle

My 3 week old has the same problem. I have her on the T nipple, and I put her on her side to feed.. (just looked this one up last night; because she was having a hard time feeding on the bottle last night)
