How old is your baby? My son went through that weird sleep regression at 9months and 12 months. It was torture especially the extremely short afternoon naps. For bed time you have to hang in there for the longer sleep training. When he wakes up early give milk & cuddle back sleep, make sure the room is dark. Keep at it until it’s a routine where his body clock will get used to it
@Jess what time would you put him to bed, 7 like now? X
@Olivia he is 17 almost 18 months - thanks I’ll try giving milk when he wakes and see if he’ll settle back off 🤞 x
I wouldn't get up at that time. Keep room dark, offer milk and rocking/patting/soothing. My daughter wakes up almost every night at 4 - 5am and needs a resettle.
Everyone's baby is different and has different sleep needs. Mine naps for 1-2hrs too but in bed 11ish-8ish. I'd rather the 9 hours be later than earlier as it suits our lifestyle. It's very rare in my experience that kids of any age will sleep for 12hrs at night, most friends and family sleep 8-10hrs at all ages x
@Phaedra I’ve tried this, this morning he cried for 20 minutes straight and I mean real big cries , he won’t settle it’s like he’s completely wide awake xxxx
@Georgia thanks Georgia xx
What's your sleep arrangements? He might settle in bed with you which would give you a little more sleep. When we used a next to me I used to have my lo in the bed from 5am onwards so I could catch a bit more sleep.
Had the same problem for months with my girls, 2 weeks ago I read that putting them to bed earlier can help, so instead of 7pm bedtime we changed it to 5:45pm and some how they are now sleeping 5:45pm - 6:30/7:30am. They also went from 2 naps that where an hour each to 1 nap for an hour and it's worked wonders for us! No logic in it what so ever 🤣x
There is a final leap around 17/18 months. Is it a recent thing? The nights are colder now so could baba be cold? My LO has started wetting her pjs again like she did last winter!
My son is 17 months in a few days and he dropped to 1 nap around 15 months and I found 2 hrs was way too much for his 1 nap. I tried 1.5 hrs and this worked for a few days then it was still too much, now he get 75 mins and that’s the perfect amount for him and he sleeps until 7:30-8am and bed by 8-8:30pm. I’d cut that nap down
Gosh sleep logistics are a nightmare! I am no expert but if i was in this situation I would probably be capping his nap. Waking him after 1 hour and then having a normal bedtime
