Night feeds

When did your little ones stop having night feeds? My little girl is 5 months old and is still having 2-3 feeds a night! She was born on the 2nd centile, weighing 4lb 12 and now only weighs 12lb… does this have anything to do with it? I’m one tired mama😩🤣 Pic of my cutie for attention🤣🤣

Same here. 5 months old and has 3 feeds a night. She started playing up as well and doesn’t take as much milk as she used to. And then I put her down and she is up and hungry. Drives me nuts. But some mums are worse off than us 😘

Generally they stop around 6-8 months. Some breastfed baby’s may continue even longer. Is she eating plenty in the day? You may find once you start her on solids this helps. I don’t think weight makes a difference as my girl was even smaller and she can often go through the night without a feed

It all completely depends on the baby I think. I did find that sometimes I was feeding mine when she actually didn’t need it she just needed soothing (she would only take an oz or 2 at most). She stopped having night feeds at about 12 weeks although the past 2 nights she has woken around 3am and even though she hasn’t been crying or showing hunger cues I have fed her because her last bottle was around 7pm. She is 17 weeks on Monday

Mine is 7 months but occasionally wakes up for 1 feed around 2am. Otherwise she sleeps 6.30 to between 5.30 and 7am 😊

Mine is 9 months and still has 1 - 2 feeds at night 😅 And he is formula fed. I don’t think there is a magic age when it stops. It’s dependent on baby.

7 months old and still 2 x feeds a night x

Just out of curiosity ladies- have you tried the dream feed. A friend mentioned it yesterday and I had a read about it and quite intrigued. What’s your experience?

@Jana my baby won’t dream feed and never has 🤦🏼‍♀️ she just tightens her lips so I can’t even get it in her mouth! Largely depends how they are with wind etc too. My girl has to be winded throughout a bottle so that would wake her anyway

My little boy was around the same weight at that age, he was up 2/3 times during the night until 6 months (we sleep trained using Ferber) so not sure if it was sleep training or weaning that helped with sleeping but even then he still woke up once at 3/4/5am. Hes only started sleeping through the night in the last few weeks at 14 months old but every baby is so different. If we were desperate for sleep we coslept and he would sleep through but it was so annoying people having kids at a matter of weeks old saying they were sleeping through while I was knackered

My baby is 18 months and still has milk in the night 🥴 x

I think mine stopped around 10 months! He was 5lb 10

Think it just depends on the baby. Some have enough during the day from early on they don't wake up for it during the night, some just need that bit extra during the night... if your baby needs it then just keep doing what you're doing. Sometimes they just need a wee drink just like we do

Idk but I just came to say she is absolutely adorable!! X

@Abbie same 🙃

Yes mine self weaned off night feeds around 10-11 months

My little boy is 18 months and he still feeds in the night I know that he biologically hasn’t needed to for a long time, but it’s a quick and easy way to get him back to sleep, so I haven’t worked hard to stop it

Mine is turning 11 months and she still feeds through the night, every baby is different 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don't think weight makes a difference but my daughter is almost 5 months and she feeds pretty much constantly throughout the night. We bed-share so it's not a huge damper on me, but she eats A LOT and because of that she gained 1.5lbs in a little over a week the last time she was measured 😅

Mine is 14 months and still have night feeds.

I have the opposite problem. My 5 month old daughter used to sleep through the night since she was two weeks old. Since she got Covid (about 3 weeks ago) she’s been waking up at night like 2-3 times and wants to eat. She was born on the 91st centile and she’s currently 19lbs 48oz and EBF 🥲

16 months and still has 1-2 feeds per night. He was starting to sleep through around 11 months but after his 1 year jabs it went backwards

I think it depends on little one! Mine was born 0.4th centile now on 25th at 12 months but still wants a feed 2 times in the night. Now she’s over one I think it’s just comfort but night weaning seems a lot of work right now 😂

my little guy stopped around 3.5 months. at his check up the pediatrician said based on his weight he shouldn’t need night feeds anymore(he was in the 95% percentile at the time) he told us as long as we fed him enough during the day he shouldn’t be waking for a bottle. my husband and i assumed every time he woke he was hungry, but sometimes he just needed extra snuggles, and he actually started to sleep better and longer stretches after dropping the night feeds.

8 months here, and just got her off the bottle. My lo was having 1 bottle a night she was 18lbs 3oz at 5 months 😅 x

I don’t wanna brag or anything just giving my honest answer. My little one hasn’t had a night feed since he was about 8/9 weeks old. He just slept through the whole night, but he also doesn’t nap through the day so the HV allowed it. X

8 months old. Born at 5lb 6oz and still eats 3-4x overnight even with solids during the day 🥲

My boy was 6lb 8 and stopped at about 5/6 months. I tried a dream feed which helped him go longer at first but now he just goes from 7-7 without a dream feed xx

14 months and still feeding at night 😅

She’s so cute 🥹my little one’s 2 months old having 4/5 oz bottles during day and past 3 days been having 5/6 oz before bed at 9 then waking up about 2 or 3 for 4 oz (sometimes doesn’t drink it all) and then 7 or 8 for his next. what we do is have a small lamp on colour blue then change it to white as when wakes up during night, swaddle him, change before bed,put low music on and that’s it but probably helps we wake him during day if he doesn’t wake his self as soon as it’s been 3 hours since bottle and keep him active while wake times hope this helps and you get longer sleep soon mama 🩷

Thank you so much ladies🩷 nice to know I’m not alone as I always hear mums say their baby has slept through since like 8 weeks🥴🤣

My 10 month old feeds 2-3 times in the night, he is about 20lbs and very active in the day he sleeps better with the feeds

My girl has been going all night from 6 weeks, how many feeds are you doing during the day and how much ounces, the more milk you get in her in the day (easiest way to do this is little and often through the day) x

Idk but night feeds are very normal til at least 18 months I think tbh

8 months and she has 1 feed usually, sometimes 2 before midnight and after 5 but doesn’t wake at all other nights. If she’s still feeding at a year I’ll force the issue but not before

My boy is 8months and wakes up once in the night xx

My girl is 6 months and still has 1 feed in the night. I'm not expecting that to stop until she's fully weaned and on 3 meals a day
