@Lucy congratulations on baby first of all! I’m glad to hear you’re recovering well aswell. It’s reassuring to know recovery doesn’t always take as long as I think. I’m just asking to get a rough idea incase I do need one as I haven’t looked much into c sections so Thankyou x
Thank you 🥰 I had an emergency section so I was in exactly the same boat as you where I hadn’t considered it much before it was actually happening. I hope your birth goes well, whichever way baby decides to make an appearance!
If you do end up having one, my advice is to get up. Even just one or two steps. I did this with both my c sections and recovered quickly. Kinda had to with my second because I have a toddler. Take your pain meds and drink lots of water xx
I had mine in the evening, I was up 6 hours later, and showered myself next morning and walking around the ward. Been out for daily walks since. My car insurance states no driving for 6 weeks because if you got into an accident while driving it could rupture the wound because of the seatbelt so voids insurance. So get that double checked. They say the heaviest thing you should lift is your baby. And not to strain or pull it, which is difficult in hospital over night with a baby and no help 😂 rolling over or sitting up in bed initially was difficult but I managed myself. Tenderness is still there for me at 5 weeks PP but otherwise it’s not really been noticeable. X
I’m having my second caesarean next month. Personally I’ve had worse period pain. I was up and walking to the shower about 10 hours after, I could carry and feed my baby from day 1. I took public transport home and went to Costco on day 5. Walked every day, just little and often and took my meds religiously. I could walk the stairs, do washing up, cook. I just didn’t lift things like the hoover or do the laundry. By week 6 I was doing yoga, week 8 I was on a plane to Australia to see family and 5m pp I ran a half marathon again which felt amazing (I was a bit runner pre baby). Looking at me you’d have never known I had a caesarean and my recovery was smooth. When I went for my scans for baby 2 the sonographer didn’t even know I’d had surgery as scar tissue wasn’t showing.
Take all the meds like clockwork, hydrate, have good snacks in the house, wear your stockings and big knickers and keep moving xx
I had a section on Tuesday evening, I was up and walking round the ward by morning (my baby was in intensive care so I think adrenaline to see him took over) but I think getting up and moving and showering etc really help you to not stiffen up. Just take it easy and keep ontop of pain relief .. also take peppermint tea as the wind on day 3/4 was worst part for me xxx
I had an emergency c section 11 days ago and was really worried about out the recovery but I was up and out of bed the next morning albeit a little slow but by day 4 I walked to the local supermarket and now feel like my old self. Not sure what the trick is but I have been active but also taken it easy.
I had an emergency section and I picked my baby up from day one. I was up walking round the ward as soon as I could. I was doing washing by the end of the first week. Gentle walk after about a week. Back driving after 2 weeks (not far) Did a deep clean of the house after 3-4 weeks. I had a really good recovery x
Thank you for the positive advice ladies x
I had my second section 6 days ago, I could walk very carefully that evening, struggled walking a little the next day because the hospital didn't stay on top of my pain meds as well as they should as it was busy, once I got control of my own pain meds I took them regularly and have been walking well every day. Cant manage anything too far but finding I can do more and more of my usual activities with every day that passes ☺️ Don't think I will drive till 6 weeks again (and I'm probably not covered to anyway). But otherwise I remember last time I could do everything else before that! ☺️
@Saffron congratulations on baby! I’m glad to hear you’re doing well that’s amazing sounds like you’re absolutely smashing it xx
Thank you 🥰
I’m only 12 days post-section but every day I’m feeling more like myself and driving is the only thing I can’t do out of your list. I can do light housework, anything baby lifting related and cooking if needed. I love walking and getting out as much as I can has really helped in my recovery, both mentally and physically. I’m trying to be careful to not lift anything too heavy and to avoid anything that involves speed so that I can take my time. Everyone recovers differently so it’s best to listen to your body, rest and be kind to yourself ❤️
