Still breastfeeding my one year old. No idea what to do. I think I'll just keep going, she mostly nurses to sleep

Still breastfeeding my 16 month old. I’m getting to start “don’t offer don’t refuse “ that worked with my now 3 year old when I was pregnant with my 16 month old. My goal was to wean by 6 months pregnant so there was a break before new baby. The last couple months I was nursing for nap and bedtime only. Have you night weaned yet? It was more for comfort than anything else. I’m already loosing my supply at 5+4

@Kenzie night weaning is what I’m really struggling with

I have a system that worked GREAT with my 3 yo. My 16 month old it sorta worked but we ended up sleep training right after as he wouldn’t settle back to sleep. I did it around 14-15 months each time. It’s 3 sets of 3 nights (or longer if needed) the first set you comfort any way possible walking, rocking, etc. the 2nd set you comfort any way but set down awake (we coslept and could cuddle back to sleep which was perfect for my oldest) then the last set you don’t pick them up but can offer comfort. My youngest we had to sleep train because he isn’t cuddly and the only way I could get him back to sleep was to strap him in the stroller and that was terrible long term lol. Oh and it’s from 11-7 or when I did it I said when the sun was up but with short days thats probably too much. then you can start adjusting that time eventually before 11.

Both times I did it before pregnancy so it was a little easier if you are going to do it I recommend starting on a weekend or maybe even this holiday coming up so you get a chance to nap as that pregnancy tired is something else 😴

@Kenzie oo I love this advice I'm literally taking notes thank you! I have a 14 month old. We have a Montessori floor bed and cosleep for nursing but I'm needing to sleep train and wean before the new baby. So I'm going to try all of this. My toddler is already only nursing for nap time and bed time but still has a few wake ups at night before midnight. I'm going to miss snuggling with her but I know it's time! I'm going to need my pregnancy pillow and big bed plus my husband misses me haha. We started cosleeping when my baby girl was 5 months. I did it on accident a few times then decided to figure out how to do it safely since I couldn't seem to help it. It totally changed motherhood for me and my doctor said I have a very secure baby so it must be good for her too. It was nice to be able to do that for my daughter because my mom wasn't around much, she was an ER nurse and went back to work only a few weeks after having me. Sorry, I'm in a sharing mood, I just really connected with everything you wrote!
