Same frequency of movements but not as strong?

I’m 26+3, for the past two days I’ve noticed movement which has maybe been a bit gentler than the few days prior. On Monday I started getting kicks which moved my whole stomach for the first time(!) and now I’m just getting the slight kicks and taps I got the week before. I have an anterior placenta if that makes any difference, I know some mums feel movement less with that position. I don’t really count kicks but I definitely am feeling as though the taps are of the same frequency. Should I worry about the strength of the movements or should I relax 😩 I don’t want to be calling triage again I’m sure they’re sick of me by now lol.

I had the same issue at approximately the same week as you. I went to triage and the midwife told me that the strength or intensity of movement is really not something to worry about as long as you feel baby and notice the patterns are still the same. Patterns are the most important. In my case, the strength of the baby movements was so weak because of her position (breech). From the moment she changed position, she started kicking like a savage again lol Please call the triage if you feel worried, they will never be sick of you. It's literally the reason they are here for, it's their job. Baby movement worries are the #1 reasons why people go to triage. It won't hurt just to make a call and ask them about it honestly. It will ease your mind.

I had the exact same issue as you last week when I was at the same stage of pregnancy and also with an anterior placenta. My anxiety got the better of me and I rang triage. The lady I spoke to was really unhelpful, told me baby has "no pattern" until 28 weeks despite her being regular since 22 weeks and strength of kicks doesn't mean anything so I shouldn't go in. She told me that as long as I felt one kick a day that she wouldn't worry about me, but when I asked if it would be OK to drink a fizzy drink maybe to try get her moving to reassure me, she told me if my baby was healthy then I would feel her kick regularly. By morning I was still only feeling tiny flutters rather than my usual belly moving kicks so I rang again and spoke to a lovely midwife who told me the advice I had been given was completely wrong and any chance was worth a check, even if just to put my mind at ease. We ended up going in to be monitored and all was fine, but follow your gut and call triage if you're worried/anxious xx

Thanks girls. I did try phoning triage but they were absolute rubbish. It’s so frustrating the midwives say ring even just for reassurance but when you phone them they want nothing to do with you. I’m gonna drink some juice and lie down and if I don’t feel any strong kicks off baby tonight then I’ll go in the AM.

What did they tell you ?!

They essentially said chill out and that there’s no established pattern until 27-28 weeks (even tho I was previously told 24-26 :/) they said count the movements and only call them if the frequency declines. It’s annoying because it conflicts with all the info online that says you should also be monitoring the strength of your kicks and go to triage if the kicks feel weak?! Maybe it’s just that I’m a bit early to be worrying about it at 26wks? I don’t know anymore. Luckily I’ve felt a couple strong kicks since then so I’m feeling a bit better… it’s just rubbish searching for reassurance and only getting patronised back lol.

I'm so sorry for that 😔 it's really not nice ... As you said previously, don't give them the choice tomorrow if it's still the same and just go. It's their job to check you! Everything is gonna be fine 🙏
