Breastfeeding and c section…..

Unfortunately my c section was a little rough to say the least. The problem is I don’t know if it’s just the stress or the fact that it took 5 times the normal dose of anesthetic to make me not feel the pain of them cutting me open…..they said my body was metabolizing it too fast…..I’m trying so hard to breast feed but after 2 days of him screaming every 15 minutes all night and all day and me literally breaking down crying the nurse suggested to try to some formula between feedings to help….it helped and it’s helping a lot but I just feel like such a failure….4 days postpartum and I’m literally crying every second because he loves to nurse, he latches great but I still have to give him formula between breastfeeding because he’s so hungry because I’m not making enough…..I tried my breast pump for the first time today and I wanted to cry so bad because I literally couldn’t even fill a 1mil syringe…..everything is so stressful and I feel like I’m failing…..the c section pain is so bad too because he came out butt first and they had to rip more on one side……I’m feeling so overwhelmed and anxious I just can’t keep doing this…..the back pain from them having to stab my 5 times to get right spot for the spinal tap is absolutely hell……it’s like my husband is trying but it’s hard when he’s not understanding that all this stress is making it worse for me to produce milk….is there something I can do or eat or drink to help get my milk to come in more?

Eat oats and stay hydrated. But also remember that fed is best! Happy and healthy mama = happy baby so do what is best for you and your family!

Have you done anything naturally? What is your diet like? And are you eating lactation cookies? I’m scheduled c section next week- I’m super into nutrition/ exercise and am doing everything and anything to prep my body right now for surgery/ after … making a batch of lactation cookies tomorrow.. if he likes formula give him a good ( high quality formula) breast feeding isn’t the end all b all

@Lauren the problem is I’m vegetarian…..so eating in the hospital was horrible on me anyways……I haven’t tried any lactation foods

Truly staying hydrated and consistent latching/pumping is the best advice. I saw 4 or 5 different lactation consultants and that’s what they told me.

Give yourself so grace mama you’ve been through a lot your body has gone through a lot. Take a moment and take a deep breath! You got this one day at a time. Do some power pumping 2x a day for 5days, on top of staying hydrated and like @Lauren said try some lactation cookies they are my favorites. Baby boys are built different when it comes to eating from what my mother and auntie tells me and she has 5 of them. My 2week old son eats a lot so the more I put him on the more milk I produce. One day at a time!

Take it easy on yourself. I drink lactation tea. When I was at the hospital I also had to supplement but there was donor milk. You got this mama. It's going to be a wild ride but you are a strong woman. There are going to be hard days. Also try to stay on top of pain meds this was my second c section but staying on top of pain meds helped. Also gas x helped me a lot as well. Again you are so strong you got this. Also deep breathing when stressed has helped me. Message me if you need someone
