Can’t get toddler to poo on potty/toilet!

Looking for tips. My son is 2.5 and we have been no nappies during day for about a month. Wees are fine he will either go himself or you just remind him. But we have never got a poo on the potty/toilet. We have tried treats, star charts, sitting with him, leaving him etc nothing seems to work. He has no schedule so we can’t really plan to put him on the potty. It’s like he just gets the urge and goes immediately usually while playing or focusing on something. He will the say “I didn’t do a poo”. He isn’t scared of the potty or anything. He refuses nappies now so reluctant to move back into them. He poos maybe once every day or two not constipated. Any tips appreciated!

Hi, my little girl was the exact same. Just would not poo on the potty or leave it too late to tell me so we couldn’t get her there! I used Father Christmas in the end, said she could have an extra toy from Father Christmas which we sat down and picked and said if she did poo poo on the potty she would get it! It worked!! It’s so hard!! X

Funnily enough I said today if he goes on the potty he can go to the toy shop! Fingers crossed I have the same luck @Denise!

👋😉 Hi @Catherine I hear you Mama! This potty training stuff is HARD! Especially the poo part. Mastering the skill of pooping in a potty or toilet can take some toddlers a little longer to get used to! (...aaaand lots of practice) before they eventually become comfortable pooping in a seated position sitting down on a potty or toilet. Hang in there! I think I can offer some helpful advice!
