C section or wait to go natural

Just over a week ago I had a massive bleed turns out it was a slight placenta abruption, I've had both steroid injections to help baby lungs just incase it's to come away more but everything looks perfect with me and baby! I'm in two minds now because I've said from day one I want a water birth and just have gas and air but now I'm not sure if to have a selective c section to get baby here earlier 😩opinionssss????

Do you have Placenta Previa? I too had placenta abruption and in the end, it completely went. I had no bleeds until 34 weeks but then had a couple so had no option to deliver. I hope that you’re able to get the birth you want. I’d have loved a water birth too x

@Lauren I did get told the placenta was low lying being 6cm away from the cervix but then got told it's not low lying it's like every doctor I saw while in hospital said something different 🙄 thankyou though I think now I'm just more on edge and would rather have baby here sooner then later!!xx

Have you spoken to the midwives since your bleed about the water birth? Only mentioning as I wanted that, but due to other, quite mild complications was told that was now off the table anyway, so if it’s something that might sway your thinking about going ahead with a C, might help with your decision making. Good luck x

@Jaydia it’s so confusing isn’t it! Even with a scan sometimes they just cannot be sure… 😵‍💫 Well it sounds like you should be okay for the birth you want so I really hope you’re able to get it. But on a positive if you do need to have the C Section it’s really good you’ve had the steroid injections in preparation. Good luck mumma x

@Jessica I was thinking that as before the bleed I was high risk due to being not even 1 over the bmi and the consultant took me off high risk as he said there was no need to worry but after the bleed it was confirmed I am back on high risk so without a doubt I'd think now water birth Is definitely off the list do have a midwife appointment on the 5th so can confirm with her x

@Lauren genuinely makes me question whether they actually 100% believe in what they're saying not reassuring at alll!!!tyy girlyyy hope everything fine with your lil one xx

@Jaydia thank you lovely, not long for you now. Best of luck xx🤞🏼🙏🏼✨💛

Can they actually see if there’s a problem with placenta from a scan?

I also had a low-lying placenta. I went in for some bleeding around 34 weeks and that was when it was mentioned, which was weird because it had never shown up on any of our other scans. We got a better scan done in a nearby city that said it was fine. But, despite that, on the day I was induced, I started bleeding heavily and had to be rushed in for delivery. The fetal monitors said that while baby was doing okay, she wasn't showing the typical signs they look for that tell them baby is happy and comfortable as well as healthy. They recommended a C section - gave me the choice, but strongly recommended it. I went through with it and I'm glad I did. I found out later that my placenta had ruptured, which caused the heavy bleeding, and baby may not have made it through a full vaginal birth, especially because I had barely dilated at all.

@Gina well the doctor I had said he's never in his 10years seen a scan besides mine were you could clearly see the placenta came away!!!

@Melissa so weird a lot of people have said around the 34 week mark is were the bleeding had started but think I'm definitely going to go for the c section rather him be out and know he's safe then wait for the unknown!!

Very weird! I hope everything comes out well for you. 💜 Wishing you a safe and healthy birth 🤞
