Try pump 1st thing in the morning. You’re doing amazing though - EBF is so tough 🤍
Hi. If you intend to continue trying, look into Legendairy Milk supplements. What worked for me best was cash cow but everyone is different. They also have once called liquid gold. Honestly, I swear by it's effectiveness. I was pumping maybe twice as much as I did before I took them. However, if you intend on having her on formula. Do your research. Because you'll find that not all are for everyone. I used Kendamil Goat Milk formula and had it shipped for my 10 month old at the time. Goat milk for the purpose of it being considered the closest thing to breastmilk in how babies' bodies can break it down.
Nothing will really come after you feed her if you are feeding her on the breast. Babies are much more effective at getting the milk. The best time to get the milk by pumping is when you haven’t fed for a while so when you’ve missed feeds due to formula being used you should pump then or when you wake because you’ve not fed for a while. Although I will say the longer you go in a routine where you don’t feed like through the night for example your body will adjust and start to produce less. Don’t put too much stress on yourself with pumping because it will only have a negative effect on your milk. I found a Hakka quite useful and getting milk and you can pop it on and off through the day to collect what you can. Some say looking at pictures of your baby etc can help too when pumping. When I use the hakka I would also massage around the breast and almost hand express and with the suction of the Hakka it would help and start shooting out of you find wee ducts that haven’t been emptied xx
You're not a failure. Ive never been an over producer, with either of my kids, and when my husband has had to feed because I've been out, he gives formula.
I never got much after a feed, even when i thought she only had a little. I’m EBF too and building a stash has been difficult since I only have enough for her feeds. I’ve found that pumping anytime between 2-6 am is the only way because I’m full at that time and she’ll usually sleep for 5 hours at least so there’s e good build up. When I pump I only do 10 mins in case she wakes up. Our bodies produce what our babies need, don’t stress yourself if you can’t produce more than that
First. You want to make sure you have the correct sized flanges for pumping. That's usually a very common cause for not getting enough. Secondly. I've heard that a lot of those "lactation products" are crap. Just make sure to eat plenty of calories during the day including some fatty things that may not be super healthy like Oreos lol How far postpartum are you? You should try to get on a strict schedule. Maybe not latch but just get to pumping to see how much you are actually making. Lastly! Do not feel like a failure! It happens and your baby is still being fed so she's getting nutrients needed.
I'm two weeks post partum currently. And eating enough is definitely affecting it because my husband has already gone back to work and taking care of the baby all day alone doesn't leave a lot of time to take care of myself honestly
Just try to keep a lot of easy snacks around to munch on while you are caring for baby. And being only 2 weeks pp is great! That means your hormones haven't leveled out so you absolutely have time to fix it. And there are resources out there on how to measure for a pump flange.
It is completely normal not to get much when you pump after a feeding, this isn’t a sign of low supply. Any time baby gets a bottle, you need to pump to replace the volume that was given. So if baby gets a 3oz bottle, you need to pump 3oz or your supply will drop.
Be easy on yourself you’ve only just had a baby. Try not do too much at once and just enjoy your baby. It’ll all soon get into a routine and you’ll find times that help with pumping xx
Try a manual pump on the opposite breast that you’re feeding her on! This works the best for me as my bub sucking on one while I pump the other tricks my body into producing heaps!!
Pumping straight after feeding never worked for me, instead I used to pump inbetween his feed intervals or during the night/early mornings. Apparently between 2am-4am is the best time to pump because it’s when your body produces more of your hormones that actually produce your milk. Don’t feel disheartened it takes time to build up a strong supply especially when your needing to make enough for now and later x
