Teething - is this normal??

My boy is 9.5 months with 7 teeth, and he's always has a rough time with it. It feels like it takes forever for a tooth to come in, and he seems to be in pain for a week beforehand, at least. It also disrupts his sleep, where he can sometimes wake up every hour at night, crying. He goes back to sleep quickly, but it's still a lot to deal with. My husband is convinced that this isn't normal, as none of his friends' babies have had issues with teething. Am I crazy to think that my son's behaviour is normal? Difficult, but normal? 😭

My LO is the same. I think it just affects some babies more than others x

My daughter always struggled when her teeth came through, when it was bad we gave her pain relief and also used anbesol liquid, bonjela, or Aston and parsons teething powder. She didn’t wake up quite so much, but definitely really struggled with it. So I’d say it’s normal. Xx

No it’s normal. It sucks every baby is different but it’s still normal. My son had a rough time as well. I used baby oral gel and cold fruit in a teether. I’m a dental assistant so somewhat of professional opinion.

I've seen timelines of teeth coming down saying pain for maybe a few days, it can be weeks for us. Even when it breaks the gum it can still be another while before it fully comes out. Definitely different for every baby

@Yasmin it sounds like it. Thanks for replying xx

@joanna thank you for sharing your experience! Xx

@Shynel thank you so much for sharing! It sucks so much 😭

@Louise appreciate your response, thank you!

Some babies have issues other don’t but either way it’s definitely normal. My son never had any issues even his molars. We’d noticed once the tooth had broke few. My daughter on the other had has been a little fussy and we assume it is teething.

@Khyia that's so good to know! Truly, every baby is so different.
