Teething toys

Are we sterilising our teething toys or just washing them? My LB constantly chews on his hands or my hands and they’re clean but they wouldn’t be sterile just with soap and water He also chews on his sleeves or on a muslin which aren’t going to be completely sterile His dad’s a farmer and we have does in the house so at what stage do we stop panicking if the plastic they’re using is completely germ free?

Was wondering this myself - following for answers!

I’ve literally just washed a teething toy and I think that’s where I’ll stop. She constantly has her hands in her mouth or sucks her swaddle up sleeping bag. We have pets too. I’d maybe just wash twice a day and not leave it lying around on play mats etc.

It’s so confusing the cdc recommends to sterilise up to 4 months if baby is healthy but the nhs recommends 12 months He’s fully breastfed getting antibodies off of me continuously and fully vaccinated I want him to develop his own little immune system instead of getting sick as soon as we send him to nursery

Yes I feel the same! I am 80% expressing breastmilk with one formula bottle a day (cos the tin needs using up within 4 weeks). My little girl is 4.5 months old. We sterilise bottles & dummies but I think I’ll just wash teething toys and introduce the “germs” slowly.

If you’re doing bottles there’s no reason Not to just stick it in with the other things you’re sterilizing. I’m currently only nursing so just washing things not sterilizing

@Allie see that’s my thing nothing else except our thermometer and calpol syringes gets sterilised when he’s sick currently

Ah yeah I wouldn’t then/ I don’t

I’ve just been washing them as the ‘instructions’ of the ones we have say not to / that they’re not suitable for certain sterilising methods

If I doubt I just pop in a cup of recently boiled water for a couple of mins. This is how I do the dummies
