Cat won’t quit peeing on everything

He’s my eldest cat and has never had this problem before. Took him to the vet fearing the worst. He’s perfectly healthy, no signs of stress or anything. Vet guesses he’s just feeling more territorial in his old age. It’s gotten ridiculous. I left the dryer open when I was getting a blanket out of the wash as my baby woke up from her nap. Come back, smelled cat pee. Figured he’d peed on the dirty laundry basket I was about to put in. Nope, he’d peed in the dryer. He’s peeing in all these weird places. Windowsills, bathtub, dog food container, under the kitchen sink, anything new brought into the house whether it’s a comforter set or a grocery bag, and just really weird places. Not even on clothes hampers or rugs where you’d expect.

Is he neutered

@Sophie unfortunately no. Our pet insurance won’t cover sending him to the vet hospital for a full work up and our local vet won’t do it.

Maybe spend some dedicated time with kitty so he's not feeling replaced. If you brought in a natural Christmas tree, you might have accidentally brought in the smells of some pretty interesting or threatening animals along with it that are driving him crazy. Also, if neighborhood cats are coming up to your back door he'll be marking. Spray peppermint scent around your door & patio and consider cat deterents for your yard if he's a fully indoor cat.

Are you sure he’s not got cystitis? My cat pee’d in really random places when he had it

@N 💞 our vet did a general work up, said he was healthy. I can take him again to check. He doesn’t seem to have any other symptoms.

@Bonny this is a good idea. I’ve yet to decorate 🫣 but I have been working more. I cater and have been doing a lot of orders. Still in the home, but he’s not allowed in the kitchen if I’m doing orders. The last few years I’ve been doing it, it didn’t bother him but we did lose our other elder cat last year. He could be lonely 🤷‍♀️
