Episiotomy.

So I’m posting anonymously until the official announcement is made. However my little girl made it today and unfortunately I’ve had to have an episiotomy and also a manual removal of the placenta. Any tips on soothing an episiotomy because I was not prepared for this at all!! It’s so bloody sore 😂😂

Congrats! I had both of these with my first. Just go really gently. Change your pad often, push hospital to send you home with some codeine not just paracetamol, sit down gently and sort of roll onto it rather than putting your weight directly on top of it. Once you’re able to in a week or so, have a warm bath just for 5 minutes (no longer so you don’t dissolve the stitches or get an infection) with camomile tea bags in it - sounds bonkers but a German midwife we know said it’s standard what they do there and it really works to soothe. I found it really did help. I hope helpful! Just mainly be careful with the stitches and you’ll find you heal pretty quickly X

@Catherine thank you so much. I had to demand my catheter out because it was just too painful against the stitches but luckily I’m up and about already now which is good. I just want to go home. Hopefully tomorrow is the day so then I can properly recover. Only so much hospital beds and pads can do😂😂

I had both with my first. Keep up your pain killers and ask for more if needed. Sit on a donut cushion. Baths too. X

I had an episiotomy with my first, keep on top of taking painkillers and go easy on yourself. I’d recommend spritz for bits spray on pads as that helped soothe and also when home try and air dry down below after showers/whenever you can as that helped with healing too!
