How do you deal with the sadness of your child growing older?

Just thinking about it I get really depressed. My 17 month old has grown so much already and I’m not ready for him to keep getting bigger. Does anyone feel the same say?

Yeah my baby just turned 9 months and I already feel so sad about him being a toddler soon. Like I can't imagine not referring to him as the baby 😔 he's my BABY. My baby boy 😭

My child is 13 months old and when I look at her I can see her face changing so much that it hurts. I look at her baby pictures just about everyday. It makes me sad. I’m so thankful God answered my prayers and blessed me with her but I wish she could stay little forever. 🥹

I heard this audio on IG the other day like "the joy of having a child is watching them grow up, the saddest part about having a child is watching them grow up." That hit me so hard 😭

My oldest is 6 and I swear he was just a baby last week. Each kid it goes faster and faster. We just had baby #4 in August and she is for sure our last. I have to remember to take the time even in all the chaos and embrace the moments we have together as she grows.

@Katelyn reminds me of another one, the days are long but the years are short 🥺

Keep them as an only child so they can be your baby forever 🤣 x

Yes!!! My son is 5! And my daughter turns 3 tomorrow 😭 she is my last baby and it hits hard on how much she has and is growing but I am sooo proud of them both

Only feels like yesterday I had my 16 year old now my other son is about to be 3. Just enjoy every minute and watching them grow into great human beings

My daughter is almost 2.5 and I adore watching her grow cos she has her own personality now. We have proper chats. It's ace!

When I think about it I want to cry because no I’m not ready 😩🥹 my daughter has changed my whole life for the better, she has helped me heal my childhood trauma, and has made me the happiest person alive and she doesn’t even realize it 🥺 her little hugs are amazing, I love hearing her say she loves me, and giving me kisses on my cheek and forehead and wanting to cuddle! So the thought of her growing older makes me cry because I know she’ll soon stop wanting to do all of that 💔

I sat and cried at how much she’s grown within the last year last nigh. Thought it was just my hormones being pregnant again but I guess it’s normal x

@Natalie this is gonna sound weird but I loved reading that last part of your comment lol

Ugh. So relatable. I personally believe a consistent low grade sadness reverberating in the back of my mind is just how it is. lol It’s a complex matter so I try to not overthink it, too. I focus on the joy and savoring the moments with her. And channeling all of it into giving her the best of what I have in any given moment.

@Susie I feel like it was just yesterday my baby was 9 months. Looking back at pictures from when he was he was so little 🥺 now he’s walking and talking. Enjoy every moment!

@Leah I know 🥲 it goes by way too fast. When my baby turned 1 he still had those chubby cheeks and baby face and at 17 months his cheeks are not chubby, he’s thinned out a lot from walking now and you can definitely see he is getting bigger 😭

@Melanie its true 😭

@Katelyn he is our first and we say it all the time that it’s crazy that if we do have more kids he will be the big brother 🥺 like he’s still our little baby

@Melanie very true! I don’t know how we have already made it 17 months. I remember the day I gave birth like it was yesterday.

Don’t tell me this 😭 my baby has chubby cheeks too and I never want them to go away lol
