Christmas presents

I’m beginning to feel like iv not bought enough for my daughter for Christmas because im seeing all over TikTok the absolutely insane amount of presents everyone is buying their children, im finding it rather difficult as I dont get paid from work anymore due to having the full year off and her bday being right around the corner too Here’s what we have so far but is there anything anyone else would recommend for a near one your old i feel like iv gotten her too many big things and there wont be a lot that’s wrapped under the tree -softplay -ball pit -tp toys wooden bouncer -pop up tent with tunnel Then a few smaller bits like -fisher price picnic basket -fisher price money pig - shape puzzle - touch and feel books I still need to buy her stocking filler bits and I’m also buying the fisher price bouncing beats aswell but I still feel like this isn’t enough presents for it being her first Christmas but I also just don’t know what else to get a nearly 1 year old 2 weeks before her birthday she’s getting a lot of bigger things from family too such as a trike, rocking horse and baby and first pram. Anyone got any ideas of anything else? What have you bought your LO?

I think that sounds perfect! I know it’s hard but don’t compare to the videos you see! Our Jan babies are too young to know what’s going on and would be happy with just playing with the wrapping paper 🤣 I’ve got quite a lot of bits because I haven’t got her any new toys for a while so she’s out grown a lot of them and needs new developmental / montesorri toys and some clothes. So we’ve gone for that and some books, some building blocks some puzzles , some fisher price little people figures and some ofther little bits and then have got other bits for birthday too. I think you’ve got a good range of presents and I’m sure little one will be super happy playing worn her new toys x

We’ve got my little girl a backpack for nursery… 😅 but she will have loads to open from family and friends so I’m not stressing. As said before, they’ve no clue and will just be happy joining in and destroying things 😂

I've just bought my little one a couple of books she loves books at the moment. And I was going to wrap some of the clothes I've bought for the next size up she will just want the wrapping paper to play with anyway. Don't know about anyone else but I'm still in the phrase of just buy stuff when you need it.

I think I have about 5 items. She doesn't know what's going on anyway!

Yeah the videos you see online are completely unrealistic and half the time are wrapped empty boxes. We have a 4 present plan for the kids so they done get overloaded with presents: Something they want Something they need Something to wear and Something to read. They get so many presents from grandparents and relatives using the same rules they don’t need anything else from us.

That’s a lot. And sounds like you’ve spent a lot of money already? Don’t buy things for the sake of having more to open, they’re so small, they have zero understanding or expectation and it sounds like there’s lots of new things she’s going to enjoy playing with. Christmas shouldn’t be about piles and piles of presents, or bankrupting yourself because social media has made you feel bad. Take the pressure off of yourself.

Christmas is not about gifts or how many gifts are under the tree !! It’s about spending time with family and enjoying some food and having a lovely day!! Presents are just an added extra. My son has five present from me and his dad and one from Santa and that’s all he needs!!

Yeah that sounds like absolutely loads. The family have chipped in together for a soft play set, then I've mostly asked for stuff for nursery, clothes the next size up. Then he's got an activity table and books. Honestly there's no need to go over board with presents, they're more than likely going to want to play with the boxes than the actual toys any way!! Maybe it's worth keeping some of the stuff for their birthday instead?

Thats a lot more than I have got. What are your concerns? With all due respect Im sure you dont remember you first probably 4 or 5 birthdays or Christmases! Nothing to worry about at all, that sounds like loads

Thankyou soo much everyone that’s definitely made me feel a lot better, I’m not sure why I was feeling soo guilty as I know she’s not going to remember it, I think because I’m a younger parent I feel like I have to prove myself and I didn’t want anyone to think that iv done absolutely rubbish so thankyou everyone for the kind words, I absolutely know she will be in her element and she could of had 1 thing and she would of been just as happy, if she gets overwhelmed on the day I’ll just save some things for her bday x

Iv got my little boy a ball pit - ride on and- car toys - dinosaurs and books hes also got a Woden train set more dino toys and a dancing dinosaur off his grandad but I’m not going to crazy as he’s swill young and have all year to buy him things aswell then his birthday is a week after so going to buy clothes and shoes for him

We haven’t bought anything for our twins 😂 and we won’t! We’re making a large DYI busy board ourselves. And they’ll get some presents from family.

Sounds very similar to what weve bought! Ive bought a few other bits from b&m/home bargains and just splitting it between christmas and birthday!❤️ We get what we can and it is enough weither we spend £20/£200/£2000👏🏻 xx

Honestly don’t feel guilty at all! We have got our LG two presents for Christmas as I’m sure family will get her bits too. I’m more excited for taking her out on days and actually enjoying the magic of Christmas versus the toys she has as she won’t know what is going on🤣

That’s loads. I have 3 items and hoping family don’t fill my house with rubbish! I got a Tonies box as the main present, so I can play music/stories in his room.
