School decisions

We have 2 schools that we like. The one we really like and is walking distance, don't officially have wrap around care yet, but the headteacher has said it's expected to be in place by 2025 and I know that parents of current students have had a questionnaire sent home for this. The school is also small and has 14 kids in a class which I think would be amazing The other option is 15mins drive away, a little bit bigger school, but has had wrap around care and holiday clubs running for 2 years. I'm torn between what to do

I had exactly this decision to make. Sounds exactly like the school near me. Very small but no wrap around care.. but parents were in process of filling in a questionnaire. We have gone for the further afield one.. I feel like the smaller school just didn't have the facilities to do as much as the bigger school because they only had small funding due to the small amount of children attending. Also wrap around was a must have for me.

We really need the wrap around too, not all week but to suit my shifts, and it's through an outside provider at the school that is 15mins away. This is the school we always thought we wanted and it is a lovely school, but the one closest is just a small village school with easier access, I may wait until nearer the end date of submissions to make a final decision.

How sustainable do the school think small classes are? Is there potential as they go higher up the school for mixed aged classes? If you need wrap around care is there a childminder local who may be of help! I think I’d go for the other school especially if I needed wrap around care

Very similar tricky decision for us, I didn’t think it was going to be so difficult tbh!

@Amy the classes are always below 20 I'm swaying more towards the other school that currently has wraparound care, still a lovely village school and my daughter ran off to explore on the tour which is a good sign.
