Labour/pregnancy

I’m due May 2025- I’m a very small slim girl only 4’8 size 4 , my partner is 6’3 Did any mums struggle with severe pain due to how fast the baby grows and stretches your body? And did you struggle during labour? Have to have the baby early etc?

Yes, I'm 5'6". I'm very small. My babies are usually very big, 8 pounds and up, but my last baby came out 10 pounds. The doctor couldn't believe it because I'm so small. I had really bad sciatica. I was given a band, but it didn't help. The pain was unbearable. I was only allowed to work 5 hours a week

I'm just a couple inches taller than you. I will say I gained a lot of weight during pregnancy, around 30lbs. I struggled with pain in my ribs, it was severe enough for me to go to the doctor because I thought something was wrong. Babys feet were putting a lot of pressure on my ribs. My doctor also said because I was so small and growing so much, my body was reacting and trying to deal with it, which resulted in pain for me. I had my baby 3 weeks early through a scheduled induction. The reason was that that ultrasound were showing her as being too small, turns out she was just perfect at 5 lbs 14 ounces. If you end up having a lot of pain and are able to do prenatal massage, I'd definitely recommend it. I did massage, yoga, acupuncture and chiro. I think it all really helped me both physically and mentally.

@Skye thank you! I’m suffering so badly already with pain , my back burns it’s so sore, I can’t weight bare on my left side and I can’t stand up straight as I get pain all across my bump🤦🏽‍♀️ I went hospital and was told it’s muscular nothing will help and I’m only halfway 😢 I’m so worried it’s going to harm my baby being so small🥺 xx

I almost forgot about the back pain. I used a heating pad and took tylenol to take the edge off. As long as you have regular prenatal care (ob or midwife) than you should be fine! And you'll be shocked to see that as soon as that baby comes out, most of the pain just fades away. Good luck mama. Take it one day at a time. 🫶

@Skye I have only just been given a midwife at 19weeks and won’t be seeing her until 25 weeks😢 But I was told not to put heat on my back by her when I messaged her my concerns🥺 xx

That's interesting. I was told that I could use heat on my back in moderation. Same with warm baths. I don't know how I would've made it through without using my heating pad! I know it totally sucks now but trust me when I say it'll all be worth it the moment you meet your baby. My little girl is 3.5 months now and the pain feels like a distant memory.
