My son’s nursery do light teas so things like cheese and courgette muffins, scrambled eggs and toast or pitta bread slices and veg sticks with hummus. It’s not meant to be a main meal. They have a main hot meal at lunch time and then a light tea at 3:30. I then give him something light at home if he’s still hungry. My little boy has multiple allergies and sometimes he has toast and fruit etc as the meal they have you can’t make a dairy free alternative or is something he won’t eat (he’s potentially ASD, pending assessment and only eats beige foods). I work there too but don’t see the issue as 90% of families feed them a meal after nursery x

Yes. Ideally with cheese/beans/egg. Usually, nursery’s seem to have a big lunch and a lighter tea.

Our nursery call it “high tea” as it’s an early tea to put them on really when they’re there til 6pm. Then I always feed her actual tea when we get home x

Yes my little boy has main meal at lunch time! He normally has beans on toast, crumpets or picnic tea which is sandwiches etc for his evening meal! I always offer him more food when he gets home! Sometimes he eats the lot, and sometimes he doesn’t! 😊

Same as everyone else , main meal at lunch , something light at tea and then I feed him again at home

I didn’t realise most people fed them again at home! My daughter doesn’t usually get back until 5.30 and we tend to play for 10 mins then it’s bedtime!

@HMK not everyone does. My boy isn’t always hungry and I work at the nursery until close at 6pm so by time I get him home, it’s 6:30/6:45pm depending on traffic and then it’s usually nappy, bottle and bed. But if he’s had a particularly ‘bad’ day with food, I’ll offer him either porridge or toast or something alongside his bottle before bed, or just give him an extra couple oz milk xx

Yep, it's more a snack as they assume they get fed again at home, but then it depends on the age too. We don't force tea on nursery days but we pick them up usually 4.30 they have the snack at 3 we have a meal at 5.30ish, my youngest will then have milk before bed
