Loosing hair

My son had thick full hair but developed patches all of sudden? Any ideas? He does tend to twiddle his hair Where small matts develop but only at end? He is nearly 3 for reference.

Just looks like its wjere the hair separates where the roots are straight on those areas

Does he still have missing patches when his hair is dry??

Yes he does.

What hair products are u using?

He has beautiful curls!

Maybe it is from him playing with it. His hair looks healthy otherwise.

His hair does look very healthy... possibly due to how he sleeps??

Hey guys. He does twist the end of it in his fingers as like a comfort. Maybe it is breaking it or causing patches. Would plaiting it help to stop this? Clueless tbh haha

@Keeta I think plating means braiding? If so then yeah it can’t hurt to try🤷🏼‍♀️

I would talk to a hair stylist and see if maybe he needs any scalp care or as GiGi suggested earlier if the roots are getting straighter. Any type of protective hairstyle(braids, knots, cornrows, twists) can be really helpful in protecting the hair from daily and environmental damage so this may help if it is caused by him pulling on it. Just be careful not to do anything too tight as this could make the issue worse. I personally find that twists are gentler on my LO scalp. Also it's best to take breaks when doing protective hairstyles. We rotate between them and always leave in for a week and then break for a week.
