Prodromal labor
So last night I started contracting around 530. They were pretty inconsistent for about 45 min then they started coming every 3-4 min. OB said to go ahead and go to L&D. They get me on the monitor and you can definitely see that I was contracting and fast. They checked me and my cervix was still long and I was only 1cm dilated. They had me walk around and bounce on the ball for an hour and they’d come back and check on me. Well in the meantime, I’m still contracting every 3-4 min and they’re painful! They come back to check on me again and he can only get a finger and a half in and my cervix is still long.
So they gave me the option to go home and labor there and get some rest… which they said that honestly with how frequent they were coming and the fact I have a toddler, I probably wouldn’t rest. Then they presented the second option which seemed to make them feel better. They offered to have me stay overnight on pain meds so I could sleep through the contractions. And re check me in the morning. So that’s what we did.
I had contractions for 12 hour straight 3-4 min apart. The pain meds helped me sleep for like 5 hours until one of my machines started beeping. But they gave me pain meds (with Zofran) again around 430 this morning since I was still contracting every 3-4 min. And all of the sudden… contractions stopped. They checked my cervix and no change. So they told me it was prodromal labor which can feel a lot like real labor. That sometimes it can fizzle out and sometimes it can last days. So they sent me home. I got home around 730. The whole time I’m waiting for my ride and on the way home, I’m throwing up and peeing myself from the pain meds. I end up having to throw on a diaper because I’m still throwing up. But then I finally get to my bed and get to sleep. I’ve been sleeping all day and I feel like I got ran over by a truck. Like my entire body from the top of my head to my toes is achy.
Is it normal to feel this way after prodromal labor? I never thought I’d be in false labor for 12 hours 😩
With my first this happened to me over and over again. I'm sorry mama. Hang in there!
