Lived around 2 hours apart however because of that we wasn’t at my dads on weekends we would just do a long holiday with him during summer ans winter - like 2/3 weeks with just our dad / dad side of family .
I don’t think it’s the distance that matters but just the way my parents acted… like hating on each other , getting us involved or even just sensing the vibes were not good made me feel on edge. The fact of how far they were didn’t make a difference as long as they made effort to see me or FaceTime me or text me etc made me happy .
It's hard if your parents aren't civil and make you feel like you're taking sides.
Well I will say that my mom did that and my dad went to court and got a court order saying that I had to stay in the original county so she had to move back in order to see me. That whole ordeal wasn’t super fun and it took awhile. I was five. For the time they were in different areas, I hated the drive. I also got carsick so it was like literal torture. It was probably exactly an hour and a half away.
