@Phoebe thanks, I have one tomorrow! So I’ll see what the midwife says
I’m in your position but 41+5. Can’t make a decision
@Ally it’s so hard to know what the right decision will be!
I had a planned C section because so often inductions end in emergency c sections and recovery is so much harder because you've potentially laboured for anywhere between 8-36 hours, you and your body are exhausted from trying to force something that might not be ready yet and then you have major surgery. My recovery has been really good (15 days post c sec). I can pretty much do everything now, scar is healing well, baby born 2.07pm, I was discharged 9pm the next day, only needed paracetamol and ibuprofen at home, I also took arnica. Other than general worries of surgery I had a really chilled experience. Obviously this is just my experience and the choice has to be your own but my thoughts were 'if so many end in a c sec anyway....why would I put my body through something that isn't needed'. Whatever you choose, good luck! X
@Katie thank you! I think it’s the recovery that worries me with a c section so that’s good to know
I had an induction last week that ended in an emergency c section. It’s a totally personal choice but if you want to hear more about my own experience of the induction process and how it all ended, pop me a message
I was induced at 41 + 6 was in labour for 14 hours but wasn’t dilating any further than 4cm, baby heart rate kept dropping due to stress from the oxytocin drip so kept getting turned off and turned on, eventually took in for emergency section as body was not coping. Wish I had planned c section from the start. Good luck with whatever you choose ❤️
@Chelsea I’m 41+6 now. Have just spoken with Doctor who laid out options but was heavily advising me against c section. I explained my worry is that my body isn’t showing any signs of being ready for labour & that I want to avoid induction then ending up in emergency section. Told her right now I would prefer to book an elective section & just hope I go into labour spontaneously in the meantime. She’s really against it 😐 because I don’t have a medical need to. But if their reason for wanting to induce me is because of higher risk of still birth then surely the priority is just get the baby out? None of it makes sense.
Regardless of the medical advice from them you should push for what you want girly, I had to basically argue with the midwife who had changed over and demanded she got a doctor in for me to speak to as she was highly against me going in for a c section even though my baby was showing signs of distress for hours (his heart rate was getting worryingly low) and I started to become unwell myself. His head was stuck and it was at this point the doctors said best thing would be to take me in (should never have got to that point) My body couldn’t handle it and neither could my little bubba! There wasn’t any point through the whole process where there wasn’t 7/8 professionals in the room with me. If I could go back I would’ve had an elective from the start. My thoughts were the same as yours, get the baby out as soon as possible !! @Ally x
Interesting 😩 I had a sweep today and seeing consultant on Monday so will see what they say! Seems to be contradictions all over the place
Have you had a sweep yet? I’d start there if I was you, get an idea if your cervix is dilated or thinned, inductions tend to go much better if your body is ready, I’d take the sweeps every few days to see if you can get things moving yourself it seems to have much better outcomes xx
