Antidepressants

I tried antidepressants (fluoxetine and citalalpam) when I was younger and I ended up going off them because the side effects were too much for me to handle. I didn't really give them a chance to work. I have decided to try fluoxetine (prozac) again because I am really suffering with my mental health and I want to be better for my family. My baby turned 8 weeks old today and I'm finding it really hard to function even more since starting antidepressants. Paracetamol isn't shifting the headache and I genuinely feel like I have the flu. I have been lay in the sofa all day in pain and feverish. Is there anything I can do to lessen these side effects??? Somebody please tell me that they'll go away? I don't want to give up on them again :(

Same boat, i hadnt given them a chance before, but now I'm on fluoxetine since my baby was about 12 weeks, it does make you feel a bit drowsy for 1 or 2 weeks, but then you will be tired still from having the baby, and it being winter e.c.t. They will go away, just try and not to overthink it, easier said than done, hope all works out x

When I started Prozac I had headaches and a few evenings where my anxiety really spiraled as I was getting used to the dose, but after a week or so it stopped and I’ve felt so much better since. The anxiety jump does come back when my dose increases but only for a night or two so now I just know to look out for it. For the headaches I just tried low light and aspirin, though with the baby that wasn’t always possible to stick to. Good luck!♥️♥️

Oh good I feel a little better and more hopeful now Thank you both 💕

Both myself and my partner take fluoxetine. We’ve both tried various medications over the years with tons of side effects. However I think this is the best medication we’ve ever taken with zero side effects apart from slight drowsiness in the beginning. I think you should give it a chance. Good luck x
