I guess technically yes but it was more like I was pressured into induction over c-section. Baby needed to come early or would have died, he stopped growing in the womb before 37W
Check out homebirth support group UK on Facebook. Lots of positive stories about giving birth naturally to what is predicted to be a big baby. Some were in fact big and others weren't. Scans are about 20% inaccurate and become more inrelieable as the pregnancy progresses. I had a 39 week scan due to Gestational diabetes (diet controlled) and was told that baby weighs 3.4KG. Refused induction at 40 weeks, they scheduled it for 41 weeks which - if I got till then I was gonna cancel - at 40+6 she came out at 3.1 KG and thriving since day one. No one can pressure you into anything, as long as you do your research and make an educated decision. My friend agreed to a "big baby" induction at 38 weeks cause they made her feel like it's so urgent, when baby came out she was barely 2-point-something KG
My baby was super tiny, and I had to be induced at 37 weeks as she stopped growing altogether, but I really wanted her out as I knew something wasn't right. Right decision in hindsight too đ
I was pressured by 38ws . I said no . On my 40week I went for a swim and my water broke . All natural. U need to relax ur body n mind so it sends signals to ur brain that it is safe to give birth and ur body will prepare
I had cholestasis that had been controlled at the time but they still highly recommend induction just to be safe. I also had gps which I was a little nervous about. I wouldnât say I was pressured but it was kind of a this is what weâre doing lol
My doctor had said if I wasnât dilating more by 40 weeks and no signs of labor then we would have to think about scheduling an induction by 41 weeks! My water ended up breaking 39 weeks 5 days
I asked for induction, wasnât pressured at all. Consultant said she was happy to induce from 39 weeks if I wanted but she never pressured me.
Yes, I was pressured and it nearly killed us both due to medical mismanagement.
They pressured me to get induced after my natural labor had started and was going extremely well. I declined many times until they said please take half the induction at least
I had an induction at 39+4 but I wasn't pressured my BP was elevated and I was already in early labor.
They gave me an induction at 41 weeks 6 days. I wish I never took it, It reacted very quickly and was highly intense and fast. They wanted to do a sweep at 40 and 41 weeks I refused
They told me to get an induction at 39 weeks when I was 20 weeks along with a low risk pregnancy. Switched immediately to a birth center and did the natural water birth I wanted instead of "fitting into the hospital schedule" and risking the cascade of interventions including c section etc.
They suggested Induction when I was around 38wk, even tho baby was average size and weight. I declined and naturally gave birth at 40wks to a healthy 6lb baby
They told me my baby would be too big to deliver if I waited until 40 weeks. They measured her during an ultrasound and recommended that I get induced at 37 weeks, saying she was measuring large. However, I started contracting a day before my due date and went in for an induction on my actual due date. At that time, I was 2 to almost 3 cm dilated. They gave me a pill to speed up dilation, and I had her early the following morning. She weighed 7 pounds, 8 ouncesânowhere near the 9 pounds they had claimed she would be. Looking back, I wish I had waited because she was coming on her own, and her weight was perfect.

My water broke and they didn't want me going over 24 hours so I was induced due to that
yep and i declined it, had baby naturally at 40+5
I had an induction at 38 weeks for both my babies, both measuring big at 8lb, little man came out at 10lb2 with complications because of size, little girl was born at 9lb12.5oz and had complications! Listen to your doctors!x
If you donât want to do it girl, donât do it!!!! They are wrong about big/small babies sooo often
It was hinted at but no pressure. I had an appointment at about 37 weeks-ish and they said baby was big and made an appointment for me to see the consultant at 39ish weeks to discuss options. I went into labour spontaneously and gave birth at 39+1 a few days before the appointment. I definitely didn't want an induction or a C-section and I was prepared to stand my ground. My son was born at 9lb15oz but labour was fine. Of course this is just my experience.
I was told my baby was going to be big and they wanted to induce me at 39w 3d. I was not into it at all but they kind of freaked me out with saying what could happen. But my little guy ended up coming at 39w and he was not as big as they said at all! Could you get a second opinion?
Yes, I was pressured and it nearly killed us both due to medical mismanagement.
They have offered it to me, they are not pressuring me to do it either way just giving me options.
I was pressured after being 10 days overdue but I stood my ground until I felt comfortable being induced at 42 weeks
My doctors pressured me to schedule inductions âjust in case to get on the scheduleâ with all of my pregnancies. It was always a NO for me. We never had any health concerns except with my last I had high blood pressure. I was going to schedule can induction if I made it to my due date and I delivered her one day before so we were good.
My consultant recommended it due to baby measuring big but no pressure. I was scheduled in at 39 weeks but was told if I changed my mind at any stage before the appointment just to let them know. I went ahead and had a sweep at 38+2 and my waters broke at 38+5. I still had to be induced as labour didn't progress within 24 hours.
Scans can be off by 2lbs on either side of the spectrum. I would decline. Induction without medical reasons create unnecessary emergencies and complications. The concern is birth injury with a âbigâ baby however if you use gravity and if you labor well (meaning you move during labor and do not stay on your back) you can avoid tears and any other issue. But since most OBs are used to moms staying on their backs and staying on your back is what creates these issues, they pressure you into an induction out of fear. I would say decline as babyâs weight isnât a medical reason but a preference for doctors
Agree with above
So much pressure to schedule an induction!! I pushed mine to after my due date and went into labor by myself on my due date.
Yes I was, but I refused and delivered at 42 weeks and 43 weeks and I'll be doing exactly the same with this baby who is due next week. As long as medically me and baby are well I'm going over due for as long as needed until baby is ready.

I chose a c section because my baby was so big and they wouldn't induce me early. I knew he was going to be too big to have naturally because he was measuring full term at 36 weeks and his head was measuring 8 weeks ahead(my husband almost killed his mom because of his head). I would have had to have a c section if hadn't already chosen it, because he was measuring 11lbs 9oz 2 days before my c section, he ended up being 10lbs and his head has always been in the "greater than 99th percentile". I would ask them how far the measurments are from them requiring a c section, look at the different measurements and decide, you know your body best.
@Meg this!! they said my daughter would be 5lbs at the most (thatâs why they wanted to induce) but she was 6.12.. perfectly normal size baby
My Dr tried to pressure me into having a c section with twins at 36weeks and I refused ended up being induced at 38wks for a vaginal delivery, even though I could have gone longerâŚ.
They wanted me to induce at 39w just like they do with everyone here and I just said no and my doctor never said anything again
Iâm pressuring my OB đ we are compromising on 39 weeks.
My first was 42 weeks when I was having contractions but she didn't want to come, so I was induced. She was so stressed out I was minutes away from emergency csec, I would never go that overdue again. And it's now against my trust policy. Second born my waters ruptured at 24 weeks, held her in til 35, I was induced due to infection. I'd say we also need to take personal factors and risks into account, sometimes it's better to induce.
Yes I was going to a GYN I wasnât planning on giving birth there. The doctor told me at 27 weeks I had to be induced because I had high blood pressure. My blood pressure never affected my babies n i only had high blood pressure twice at the doctors one time it was too hot n I felt hot n dizzy the second time I was rushing to make my appt n told the nurse I needed a min cause I didnât get to calm down yet. Anyways I didnât go back there after my last appt at 29 weeks. I wanted my water to pop and give birth naturally at the hospital I trusted. Our lil blessing decided never to pop my water I went In to be induced at 42 weeks and 2 days I couldnât take being pregnant anymore lol.
